My Question or Issue

I have had a US Spotify Premium subscription since 2013, with my payment method being an American Express and a billing address being a US address.  I moved in with my girlfriend to a German address in May and signed up for Spotify Duo.  However, we have not been able to make it work since May and have run into many issues.

 

1.) My subscription states I have Spotify Duo with no other member, however I am being charged for Spotify Premium Individual.

2.) Every time I send her the link to join, she gets an error message.  We've tried different OSs, incognito mode, and different internet types and none work.  We are physically in the same location on the same IP address and using the exact same address for the Duo plan.

3.) When I try to change my country from USA to Germany on my Account via my payment options, the site does not let me use any of the payment methods (American Express, Visa, bank transfer), and instead tells me "your payment method and country don't match."  The problem is, none of the options work.

4.) When I try to change my country from USA To Germany on my Account via my payment options, the site automatically defaults it to a Spotify Premium Individual subscription and does not let me select Duo.  I am able to select Family and Student with no issues.

5.) When I try to change my country from USA to Germany on my Account via my payment options, the site does not let me update a billing address for the new payment info/update to the subscription.

 

I have tried using my phone on a cellular network, my laptop, my desktop computer, and incognito mode to resolve these issues.  My biggest questions are:

 

1.) Is Spotify Duo even available in Germany?

2.) How do I change my region if I am running into the issues above?

3.) How do I pay for my account if none of the payment options work?

4.) What is the step-by-step process for me to get this Spotify Duo subscription to work with my German partner, if my region is the USA, hers is Germany, and I want to change both my region to Germany as well as my subscription/payment.

Premium Duo is definitely available in Germany 🙂

 

In your case, you'll need to cancel your current subscription and wait for it to end. Once it has ended, you can change your country setting through the dropdown menu here.

 

Once that's done, you can subscribe to Premium Duo using a payment method that's been issued in Germany at https://spotify.com/duo.

 

Instructions on how to cancel and how that affects your account can be found at https://support.spotify.com/article/cancel-premium/.
