I received a text message saying I will

no longer be able to pay for premium through Vodafone, do I need to setup a new account or can I switch over to paying through Spotify?

Yes, you're able to switch your billing to Spotify directly. You will be charged right away when you subscribe to Spotify directly. In that case, I'd recommend canceling your subscription with Vodafone, and then when your Premium time expires (when your account reverts to Free), you can resubscribe directly with Spotify.
