Sales Tax Charge for Marketing?

My Question or Issue

I was charged sales tax this month for the first time since beginning my Premium subscription.  When I researched I found the following.  Why am I being charged sales tax for Spotify's marketing/promotional activity???

Some state and local governments may also require us to collect sales tax if Spotify undergoes marketing/promotional activities in the state or locality, or uses local sales agents or consultants.

This fee is included at the point of the transaction, which is why you might see a slightly different price on your receipt to the rate that’s advertised.

I would like to point out that such taxes depend on the specific State's laws and regulations and aren't necessarily Spotify related.

Glad Im not the only one 😊. I noticed an increase in price as well. So I'm guessing somehow our state decided they deserved a few dollars.

Yes but this doesn't explain how the state can suddenly decided to dip into my pockets ...
