My Question or Issue

I moved to Belgium some time ago but my payment is still on my French card.

I want to switch to a family plan but I cannot invite members even though we all live under the same roof: it says "you're from a different country".

Would it be possible to detach the association between address and credit card? I understand you need to conform to country-specific laws but I cannot believe I am the only expat who kept their old card.

Many thanks,

Jain

Hey, @JainZula
Welcome to the Spotify Community, and thanks for reaching out to us!

The country where your account is issued must be the same as where your payment is issued. In this case, probably your account is still configured to France. That's why you currently cannot set up a Family subscription using a Belgium address. In this case, I recommend that you change the country of your account settings, and your payment method as well. This will allow you to subscribe to the Premium Family and invite your members, normally.

Take a look at those support articles to get help with the steps to get it done:

Stay awesome!

Hi Luan,

Thank you for your answer. I tried that (changing my country of residence), but then it doesn't allow me to do that as my payment is from a French card. I do not have a Belgium card. PayPal does not work either (probably because it's linked to my French card).

Is there any way to bypass this?

Kind regards,
Jain

Hi again, @JainZula

Unfortunately, there is no workaround for that. You need to have both, your account and your payment method, set to the country you're living in. Especially considering you're trying to subscribe for a Premium Family, the country where the account is set is used for the address validation.

In this case, the best to do is to get a Belgium payment method before switching from the current Premium plan to another one.

Stay awesome!
