Hi. So I am currently in a 3 month trial period (thanks PayPal and Spotify) of the Premium plan (not family or duo) and I have a gift card to redeem. Thanks to this community I now understand that I can't redeem a card during a trial period, so my question is, when can I redeem it so that I don't get charged? It looks to me like the first payment date is the next day after the 3 months expire. Am I obliged to pay at least 1 month? Thanks.

Would you mind trying again from an incognito window and a different device? It's also worth trying with a different internet connection.
Additionally, make sure to follow these steps to redeem the card.

When you redeem a gift card on your account, the Premium time it has (1, 3, 6 months) will be queued if you have an active individual subscription or trial. This means that if you redeem your gift card during a trial, it will cover your next payment and your card won't be charged that month. In case you want to make sure when your next charge will be, check out your Account page.
Also, to clarify the info you've mentioned in your post, you can redeem a gift card during your trial period without affecting it. What you cannot do is apply for a trial using a giftcard as it will need payment details to complete the process.

Hi OscarDC, thanks for answering. What you describe is the way I think it should work but I wrote what I did because I saw several threads where people were told that under the terms and conditions of gift cards you can't redeem a card during a trial subscription. I'll keep trying.

Thanks for the reply. You can redeem your gift card at any time, there is no such limitation. Perhaps what you mean is that if you have an account that has never had Premium before, if you redeem your gift card there, then any trial eligibility is void. But if you already have a trial active, redeeming the card won't preemptively end it, the months will just be added after the trial.

OK thanks Joan. I'm still confused by the message I get -
Unfortunately you can't apply this Premium code on your account. This is likely because you have an existing Premium subscription that cannot be combined with a Premium code
But at least I know that I should be able to add it. Guess I will have to contact support. Thanks again.

Thanks for those suggestions, I did try them all but they didn't help. So I contacted Spotify support through chat, and they sorted it! All good now, thanks.

Curious what they told you to do because they are just telling me that I don’t have the individual premium plan when I clearly do and sent a screenshot. I think they are just trying to brush me off because before they were telling me to try incognito,etc
Hello @nefertiti77 asking you to try incognito is just a way to stop your browser loading any information that is stored in its cache and give you a fresh page, because if it has declined your voucher code once already it might remember and reload the message that it had failed. After I tried that and it still didn't work I contacted support again, they asked for some pictures of my gift card which I sent them, and they added on the correct number of months in my account. So I didn't do anything further to fix it, support did it. Hope you get sorted.

I'm not sure what the position is regarding gift cards and trial subscriptions, I read different opinions on it from others. However I got help for my problem from Spotify support through the chat.
