What happens to credit on Individual Premium if invited to Family

My Question or Issue

My son received gift cards for Spotify.  We already have a Family Premium plan.  I cannot redeem the code on Family as it is only for Individual.

If he joins as an individual so he can redeem the codes, what will happen to the unused credit balance if he joins our Family plan?   Will it disappear?  Will it now apply to the Family plan charges?

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

Unfortunately, if your son redeems the gift cards for a Premium Individual plan and then joins your Premium Family plan, he’ll lose the Premium Individual time from the gift cards immediately, since any remaining Premium time that you have is forfeited upon joining a Premium Family plan as a member.

Only if the gift cards are redeemed for a Premium Individual plan, and then a new Premium Family plan is started from that same account (as the Premium Family plan manager), would the remaining Premium Individual time from the gift cards be applied to Premium Family and recalculated due to the price difference between the two plans.
