Why am I billed for trial?

Why am I billed for trial?

My son showed me Spotify had a family plan trial for three months, I signed up and now we are being billed immediately. Please explain?

 

I have three kids and so far I really love the service, I have been using free Pandora for years. But the music quality and selection on Spotify seems better.

 

I'd like to know what happened to the trial
