Why is premium so different from free?

ive Had the free plan for a while with Spotify and I enjoyed being able to pick my favorite artists, having playlists generated based on my favorite artists, and being able to “like” songs and have all my likes songs on a playlist. I just didn’t like the ads. I thought premium would be the same without the ads. I hoesntly would rather have ads than having to completely start over and pick song by song for it to learn what I like. 

Am I missing something on the premium?

That's a great question. There are some great features including unlimited skips, offline music (downloading music), no ads, Spotify Connect, traveling abroad whenever you'd like, and more.
