The design for Spotify Jams is creative, but it excludes one of the biggest parts of the original Spotify Sessions; users in the jam can’t listen to the music remotely, it is only played through one device. A Spotify Jam eliminates one of the major components in Spotify Sessions, so now you can only hear music through the Jam owners device/connected bluetooth device(s). If you’re going to eliminate Spotify Sessions, bringing some of its most critical component's to the next wave of its development is essential. Including an ability to toggle a remote/share listening so that a user can change whether music is played through one device or several would uphold Spotify Sessions biggest feature, while improving the UI.

ik heb spotify premium en als ik probeer te verbinden met een jam op afstand van een vriend van mij, dan hoor ik de muziek van de vriend niet. Dit vind ik erg apart aangezien dit op de eerdere update van de group sessions wel kon. Graag wil ik dat dit word opgelost. Dat als je luisterd op verschillende apparaten op verschillende plekken dat je allemaal hetzelfde nummer hoort.

we both had premium and we’re not able to listen on separate devices. Super inconvenient. Not sure why you would remove something instead of adding something in addition:

When you start a Jam and invite a participant, the user who's accepting the invite should get a pop-up with the option to keep listening on the main device, or listen on your own device. If you don't have this pop-up, make sure you're running the latest version of the app by performing a clean reinstall with the steps mentioned in this article.
If the issue persists, could you record a short video where we can take a better look as @Joan previously requested? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to watch it).
We'll be on the lookout.
If I jam/play using a bluetooth speaker the option "allow other users to listen on their device" or something like that appears. But if I play/jam using my earphones this option doesnt appear, basically they cant listen on my jam on their own device and vice versa. Quite annoying.

We couldn't replicate on our side what you kindly mentioned. Would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.
On another note, would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of the devices on which you noticed this behavior, along with the Spotify version running on those?
Lastly, can you replicate that behavior if you connect a different set of Bluetooth headphones to your devices? If yes, please send us the details.

There is currently no functionality to allow two devices in the same jam. Both devices are on the latest version and it is not an issue with the headphones themselves. This is simply just not available in Spotify.
All of the above Moderator replies are misleading. They fail to realize they removed a core functionality of original Spotify sessions for this new 'jam' feature that is not useful at all.

I've tested this with a colleague a few days ago and can confirm that we were able to listen on two separate devices simultaneously. If you're having issues, please let us know the steps to reproduce them or send over a few screenshots or a video of how things look for you and the other user.

I found that I couldn't listen to different devices within the same local network, but after switching to different networks, I could choose to use my own device.
I am struggling with the same problem currently. Both on Spotify premium and latest version. Jamming doesn’t give either user the option on which device to listen to, hence resulting in no sound whatsoever for the second user, although all controls they can use and alter, switch song, pause etc. No sound on their headphones at all and no option to change that. Seems like a glitch no one is looking into?
I am struggling with a similar situation, it is just that I have premium and am on the latest version, I believe, but my friend who has Spotify free can join but can't hear anything. Is there any way to fix that?
Also having this issue, trying to listen together, I have a BT speaker, he has earphones, cannot listen on both at the same time, this is over WiFi connection and 4/5G, just doesn't work remotely at all, maybe on the same network but I cannot believe that this isn't replicable seeing as there's lots of posts out there stating this happens
I am having this issue too. The second user is admitted to the jam but no audio comes from the second device. Please can Spotify address this?
Same issue as well. When I joined other people’s jam, I cannot choose which device to listen on. The default was set to the host’s device. Same problem for the other user when they joined my jam. Tried clearing cache, uninstalling the app, restarting the phone on both ends with no avail.
Finally got this working - for some reason when we were staring via the QR code it wouldn’t let us choose our own device, but sharing a link did
I know Spotify has the “jam session.” But in order to do that it must be connected to a speaker.
I want me and my friends to all be able to listen to the same song/playlist in our headphones at the same time (not a speaker). Thanks
