This seems to be a new issue with the desktop client.
As of today I am no longer able to play an entire folder directly, but only playlists. This is quite a big issue, since now I cannot mix several playlists together anymore and play them as one.
In the folder view the play button is still available, but does'nt do anything anymore. Same with double clicks on folders.
I am aware that this feature never worked on mobile.
Please fix this and stop removing features I use for once.
I'm having the same issue on the OS X desktop app. This is a feature I use daily, I hope it's only a bug and a feature dropping..
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
It'd be great for you to read this support site article and follow the relevant steps listed in it to see if what you reported gets fixed.
If following the steps in the article doesn't do the trick, it'd be good to perform a clean reinstall and start with a brand-new as well as the latest version of the app. Take a look at this Spotify answer to find out how this procedure works for your devices.
Let us know how you get on. We'll look out for your reply!
Hi @Mario,
This is not really helping. We can play music, we can play playlists, we are just not able to play a folder containing several playlists like we were before.
The issue popped right after the last update earlier this week. I don't think re-installing the app will help since me and iklemp got the issue exactly at the same time so it's probably a bug on Spotify's side.
I will try re-installing, but it'd be nice to know if this was an intentional feature dropping from Spotify or only a bug ?
Thank you
This is still an issue for me. The ability to play a folder is great.
Behavior:
Select a folder in your playlist tree
The main app panel will show you the name of the folder as a header along with a green Play button with the list of playlists within the folder below.
Pressing the play button results in an error: Spotify can't play this right now
Hi @jnowlan,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
Does this issue occur on all folders you have? Have you tried creating a new folder with one or two playlists to see if you still get this error message? If yes, let us know the following:
Just to confirm, are you able to play music or podcasts outside of folders?
Keep us posted on this.
Cheers!
Yes, that happens on all folders. You get the same error message regardless of what folder you try to play.
Hi @jaredean222,
Thanks for reaching about this in the Community.
Could you send us the make/model, OS version and Spotify version installed on your device?
Additionally, send us over a short video showing this issue.
Lastly, let us know if this is happening when logging in with a different device.
We'll stay tuned.
Was this issue ever resolved? I have this same problem where I can't play a folder, only the individual playlists within a folder.
Hey @TheInkPages,
Thanks for joining the thread!
Try right-clicking the folder and selecting play 🙂
Doing this should queue up all your playlists.
Let us know in case you experience any issues with this.
Many thanks!
I'm having same issue. I right click and select play but nothing happens.
Hi @Josie_Jo,
Thanks for the reply. Do the songs get added to the queue or is there no effect at all to selecting play? What device does this happen on? Is only that one affected?
Keep us posted.
This worked, thanks!
