Discover weekly has become garbage; removal of the ‘dislike’ button impedes curation

Over time my discover weekly playlist has devolved into mostly garbage, I’ll rarely find one or two song sill actually transfer over into my other playlists. I’ve noticed this decline has coincided with the removal of the ‘dislike’ button for songs. I no longer have the ability to optimise the discovery algorithm away from things I don’t like. This feels like the overprotective, positive-vibes-only coddling culture has encroached on actively making Spotify a less valuable service. Please restore disliking songs especially onto the discover weekly playlist.

Thanks for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear that the recent editions of the Discover Weekly didn't quite suite your taste. You should however be able to see the Hide this song feature for songs there to help the algorithm improve. It comes up on the far right of the screen when you hover over a song in the playlist on desktop or in the Now Playing View on mobile.

If that doesn't work as expected, let us know if this issue persists once you've performed a clean reinstall on the affected device. We recommend this step since it'll get you the latest app version with all necessary updates and remove any corrupted files from previous installations.

If you still don't see the button, we'd appreciate it if you share the make, model, OS version and Spotify version of the device you're using, as well as a couple of screenshots of what you see at your end.

I know this is a super old thread, but this is still an issue over a year later, and I have two cents to add.

As of August 2022 the "I don't like this artist"/"I don't like this song" context option has been completely removed from discover weekly. Why??

Using "hide song" isn't the same thing and doesn't really change the algorithm at all in my experience. At best its just the same as "I dont like this song" which means that when an artist I dont like is recommended to me, I now have to "hide" all the songs individually as they're added to my playlists instead of just clicking one button and never seeing them again. Spotify has been slowly neutering this feature over the past few years and I have no clue why. Curating your recommendations and building rapport with the algorithm is the main appeal of the platform for me (and most people) tbh. There was a period where my recommendations were great, but ever since the recent changes to how we can react to songs I rarely find anything I like in my personalized playlists. I found this thread looking for answers, and I dont appear to be the only one who is very unhappy with these changes. In fact, I would say I'm in the majority. I know you specifically cant do anything about this, but is there anywhere I can give feedback on this where it will be seriously considered and not just fall into the white noise? Spotify been making some truly awful UX decisions recently, and basically everything that gets put into the suggestion boards is ignored or as far as I can tell. I'm really displeased with the direction the platform is going these days, and the only reason I'm still paying for it is because there aren't any better options.

The Discover Weekly is frequently garbage for me too. I spent weeks telling it not to give me covers of Toss A Coin To Your Witcher and it continued to give me 1-3 covers a week for MONTHS. Currently it seems to have decided that I want endless covers of something called "Diggy Diggy Hole" - I do not.
