Following limit of 1000+ artists quite annoying

Today I realized that I suddenly am only following 1000 artists in spotify.. it used to be way more. This means some artists were removed from my following list (without my consent, so therefore I am shocked!). Spotify never informed me about these limits.... (!)

I would like these artists back. 

So my question are:

-Why there is such a limit?

-Can you please fix this Spotify so I can get my favorite artists back?

You should still be able to see all of the artists you follow by going to the "artists" section of "Your Library" in the mobile and desktop app or Web Player.

The bug I posted about in the thread linked below only affects the "following" list on your profile page. You should still be following all of your artists:
