My Question or Issue
When searching for personalized playlists, Google Assistant devices re-direct to random albums with similar names.
I've got a routine within the Google Home app to “shuffle my daily mix 3 on Spotify”
Until mid April it worked as expected, recently it’s starting playing Daily Drive. I’ve messed around with the wording & sometimes it plays songs recommend to me (Based on the album Daily Mix 3 by Luis Masters) but will no longer play the thing I’m after.. My daily mix 3.
This has been an issue in the past with the album by Luis masters, I got around it by changing the wording but no luck this time.
Can this be looked into please.

Hey everyone,
Thank you for your messages and for making us aware of this behavior.
To investigate this again on our side, @chrixar, @marcolopespt and @Tagro1 include the following info in your next response:
- Your device info (make/model) and OS version
- Exact Spotify version
Also, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
We'll be on the lookout for your response.
I'm wondering if Spotify ever fixes such obvious (and likely easy to fix) issues? There are so many complaints here, it's obviously some kind of bug that no one in Spotify would ever think is "normal", why not just fix it?
There's a similar issue with the sorting methods used for podcasts - it plays the most recent first rather than starting with the oldest and working it's way through. Again, an obvious issue that NO one who uses Spotify could ever say they want to work the way it does, but that has been going on for years now without resolution.
I assume Spotify must have programmers whose job is to fix bugs and implement improvements, seems like every time I load Spotify it wants to update, what's so hard about fixing such glaring issues?
I can assure you that it's fixed on my side...
Google Nest Mini FIRMWARE 456944 (I'm on the DEV channel, but that's NOT the issue, because this is the current PREVIEW and PRODUCTION firmware! https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257)
NOTE: Not the PERFECT FIX, but way better than the previous mess! (once again, the music search after a command should be Device ROUTINES -> Spotify PERSONAL playlists -> Spotify PUBLIC playlists -> Spotify LPs -> Spotify SONGS). Currently the "FIX" executes Device ROUTINES -> Spotify playlists -> ? (which, sometimes, requires you to insert the "playlist" keyword to force it to choose the correct playlist)
Another problem is the "feedback" (not Spotify problem, i assume!): sometimes it finds the CORRECT playlist, yet it says "playing some music"! or "playing <MUSIC ARTIST NAME>"!!!
Stop saying it's fixed. It isn't for us.
@Argo42 it seems like its been fixed for some of us (myself included) in the past few days. Somehow, when they fix it for some of us, they break it for other users. Since there is some google hardware involved, there are some variations between the different users impacted by this bug.
I SAID "I can assure you that it's fixed on my side..." OK?
If it's NOT fixed on your side, please, tell me more details so i can post to the GOOGLE COMMUNITY ALSO!
What are your devices (experiencing this problem)?
What FIRMWARE are your devices ON?
This does not make sense UNLESS the hardware is different OR not updated to the most recent firmware.
In MY case, i have 3 Google Nest Mini UPDATED to the most recent firmware.
2 are a STEREO PAIR, the other one is isolated (but i think this is irrelevant)
My reply keeps getting removed because I'm linking to Google Home's page listing the current firmware versions.
Anyway, yes, I have many Google Home Minis and they all have the latest firmware.
I tried again this morning and it still fails to play the playlist. See my video attached to a previous message. Same thing is happening.
This is very strange... same devices and firmware, and different outcomes?
I saw your video...
How is it possible that this is fixed for me and not for you puzzles me!!! :\\\\
(P.S. i now have another problem that's related to SOOZING alarms, but only on my STEREO pair! Snoozing stops the music play and reduces the volume! My isolated device has no problems! Theses devices are a headache!!)
I don't get it. Is it that hard to fix such simple thing?
I have 4 google nest hub. All pick the playlist with just intros when i ask assistant to play my daily.
4 with same problem.
I opened a topic and it got listed here where it says "solved"!?!?!?
How can it be solved? I pay for a service..isn't it? Shouldn't be hard to make spotify to play what i want using google home nest. I'm sick of having to get at the display to pick the right playlist.
What puzzles me is that this was a problem that was introduced LAST year and was ALREADY fixed!!! Then, reintroduced... so the "fix" should be just like the previous one...
Another thing that puzzles me is that this is "fixed" on my side since a "week?" ago! Currently the "FIX" executes Device ROUTINES -> Spotify playlists -> ? (which, sometimes, requires you to insert the "playlist" keyword to force it to choose the correct playlist)
The "CORRECT" fix should process COMMANDS in this priority: Device ROUTINES -> Spotify PERSONAL playlists -> Spotify PUBLIC playlists -> Spotify LPs -> Spotify SONGS
Why does Spotify default to playing movie soundtracks in other languages when I ask in English? It's so beyond frustrating to CONSTANTLY have to manually change the soundtrack from some other language when my default language is English. I ask Google home, "play the Mulan soundtrack" and it starts playing the French version. WHY???
So the Google Home integration has completely lost the ability to play playlists, only albums. Google support says it's a global Spotify issue and it's been ongoing for about two weeks now.
@chrixar, @marcolopespt and @Tagro1 are you already aware of this and are there any updates you can share?
System specs:
Spotify version: 9.0.30.642 installed on Android (Samsung S23 Ultra)
Google Home Mini |Cast firmware: 3.75.456944
"Google support says it's a global Spotify issue and it's been ongoing for about two weeks now."
Where did they say that?? NOT on the public thread where I'm most active on! https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Google-Nest-Mini-play-wrong-songs-and-p...
@marcolopespt That was the response I got from their live chat agent maybe early last week after troubleshooting, and that's what led me to find this thread
Go to the official Google Community thread that i pointed out and make a post there if you still have problems.
I believe this is 50%/50% (Spotify / Google)
Either way, it was FIXED last year... and reintroduced (just like many other problems with the Google Nest Ecosystem)
I have a playlist in my morning routine that was working fine until a couple weeks ago, now it's playing a song or album with a similar name but not my playlist. Also seems like commands are broken, e.g. when I say "shuffle my playlist XX from Spotify" it'll play some album or song called Shuffle. Seems to be the same thing others are experiencing. And again, it was working fine up until a couple weeks ago.

Seems this is still not fixed for EVERYONE...
It's fixed for some (me included)
A lot of the discussion in this thread is focused on prioritization. When this happens for me, the root cause is that Google no longer sees that I have ANY playlists. Therefore, when I request one, it is forced to find something that sounds like what I requested.
You can test this by speaking "Hey Google, what are my spotify playlists." If it says "It looks like you don't have any" but you know you do, then you know the cause of your problem. When this happens for me, the Spotify app on my Nest shows my lists, but the voice commands don't recognize my playlists and play what seems random stuff.
Please test this when you are having this issue so we can point the support teams in the right direction.
This doesn't look like a solution, was there ever a set of suggested steps? This problem keeps happening for me as well.
