How do I remove a "paid" episode from my New Episodes feed?

Solved!

How do I remove a "paid" episode from my New Episodes feed?

I subscribed to the feed of a podcast that includes Paid episodes that I do not get. Yet they stay in my New Episodes feed, which clutters it up. I don't have the ability to remove it from the feed, which seems like a small bug? How do I go about removing it?

I am having the same issues and I have created an “idea” here which brings this issue to Spotifys attention. Please go vote for it.

Same issue. If this isn't a big this is terrible decision making and it's going to impact these podcasts in a negative way. Listeners are all very aware of the different access they get if they paid, this won't increase paid subscriptions it'll decrease overall subscriptions. Really hope it reverts back to only showing what I can actually listen to

My Question or Issue

Since the introduction of paid subscriptions to podcasts, podcast episodes behind paywalls remain perpetually in the "New Episodes" playlist if you don't actually pay for the podcast. For example, "Who Killed College Football" is a podcast that offers both free and paid episodes. I follow the podcast and listen to the free episodes, but now the paid episodes stay polluting my "New Episodes" playlist and I have no intention of paying to listen to them. There should be a way to delete or mark such podcast episodes as played so that they fall off the "New Episodes" playlist. Is there a way to do this?

I am having the same issue. Paywalled podcast episodes are clogging up my “New Episodes” feed and there’s nothing I can do to remove them. It’s not even working for me on PC as it seems to be for others. Shouting this into the void in the hopes that Spotify notices and fixes this problem soon.

Having the same issue. My only option was to unsubscribe from the podcasts. I ended up listening to them on a different app but it's such a pain. This is an annoying problem that's shouldn't be difficult to fix.

I have a similar problem, but I have one episode saved in Your episodes that turned to Paid. Now there is no way to remove it from the list. Not from there anyway.

I am a subscriber to some pods that offer free shows, but also have paid episodes as well. I am not a paying subscriber, but both free and “locked” paid shows are showing up in my feed, and I can’t get them to go away. Its incredibly annoying.

I'm having the same issue.  It wasn't a thing before the last app update.  If I could mark these episodes as finished it would be a vast improvement.  At this point I want to completely unsubscribe to the effected podcasts.

Hey,

Thank you for reaching out to the Spotify community

Currently the option to filter is based on newest to oldest, played and unplayed.

You can suggest a feature here ,an idea gets enough votes, it’s sent to the teams within Spotify to review.

This does not solve my problem and don’t believe a new feature is
required. It seems that a systematic change was made a couple weeks ago
that changed the “New Episodes” playlist. I never used to get locked/paid
podcasts in this list until recently. I’m now seeing them and cannot make
them go away.

It clutters up the list and makes for a poor user experience. This on top
of other poor experiences makes it difficult to enjoy using the app.

This is not a solution for androids, there is no way to clear paywall episodes under the three dots.

This problem is worse now on my Google Pixel version of the app. Not only is there no way to remove paywalled episodes from the New Episodes feed, but there are more and more of them. I can either unsubscribe from all of my podcasts or use a different app to listen, which is what I will have to do because I'm sure Spotify is purposely not fixing this, it's not a problem for *them.*

I have unfollowed all podcasts that force paywalled episodes into my feed because there is no other way to get rid of them. I choose which podcasts I pay for, not Spotify. It's a done deal, decision made. No matter how many paywalled episodes you force into my feed, I will not pay for them, so you're just wasting my time, even though I do pay for premium Spotify service. I already have to listen to ads anyway (on the occasions I can't skip them), so I should not have to also scroll past a million episodes that you are never going to get me to pay for. Nice try, but no. You need to change this BS.

I don't have a PC handy, so I logged in from my phone through an incognito tab in Desktop Mode and it created a glitch in the matrix of going in circles saying I couldn't screen shot things, AND playblack was disabled and to login to the app.

Episodes which require a paid subscription cannot be deleted or marked as already read, so there’s no way to remove them from my queue, meaning I just have to unsubscribe from the podcast to get rid of them. This needs to be fixed. Give me a way to delete the episode from my feed.

In new episodes and What’s New lists premium content is shown and there is no way to mark played or to remove the premium or bonus content from those lists.

Same problem, if you aren't subscribed to the paid podcast they try to shove a subscription down your throat by annoying you into paying for it. Probably just going to unsubscribe from the podcast entirely even though they offer free episodes. Already gave them a 1 star review

This solution doesn’t work for Mac users…. Seems like the only answer is to unsubscribe from podcasts that do this 😬

I ended up just deleting Spotify instead, not worth their**bleep**. I'm now using Pocket Casts instead--the completely free version--and there is nothing like this happening there. I would have preferred to stay with Spotify if they hadn't messed with New Episodes, but I am more than happy enough to listen to the same exact podcasts somewhere else without being annoyed by useless paywalled episodes.

Doesn’t work on a Mac, and now even if I unsubscribe from the podcast it still stays stuck in my feed 😣
