I'd like to remove a song from my history

Solved!

I'd like to remove a song from my history

The app played this particular song over and over again overnight and I'd very much like to remove it completely from my history as I don't really listen to that artist and it always pops up as the most listened song on my Spotify every single time. It's "As it was" by Harry Styles.

My Alexa (also connected to my Spotify account) sometimes misunderstands ambient conversation that will cause it to play something really terrible (i.e. "popular" music), and then the algorithm tries to push other **bleep** songs down my throat.   Honestly, it's worse than what my partner likes.

I'm in agreement with the rest of the commenters.   I listen to new music all the time, but one wrong click, or my kids play the fart song, and I'm stuck with that forever?  its 2024 get your act together.

terrible suggestion. "just listen to more music" derp. how about spotify give paying customers control over their listening history instead? or how about i take my family plan to a different service? see how silly that sounds?

You can’t delete any listening history anymore because Spotify sucks. You can do private sessions but it isn’t helpful for past listening. I loathe that they don’t allow history to be deleted.

Got hacked by someone in South Africa and now my homepage is stuck on some stupid song I'd never listen to. I don't even want to use my Spotify anymore knowing it's so out of my control what happens with my account that I PAY FOR.

Absolutely ridiculous that we can't edit our own listening history or front page

One of my friends told me to play one of his rappers that he liked. I initially thought "it might not be too bad" it was the worst rap I have ever heard. Only 2 songs had played before I changed that trash. Now my entire *bleep* spotify homepage is covered in that *bleep*. I even tried blocking the rapper himself and it didn't remove it. I want to delete it from my play history. (This has been an imahooman production)

Yeah this is a deal breaker. My toddler sometimes gets the phone to listen to lion king.somehow she got served some Spanish music and tried to skip around. Now my Spotify is nothing but Spanish stuff and I don't even speak Spanish. Not worth the $17 a month for such a terrible experience

I would love to have this feature because my dad just played a whole bunch of song i dont listen tk and messed up my recommendations

Spotify, the results are in. Take a look at what your customers are saying. You're set up sucks. Change it. Give us control of OUR PAID SERVICE.

This is very lame. Someone listened to a bunch of horrible music on my account. It's unreasonable that you don't allow deletiion of some history.  For all the money you haul in, you could change a couple of lines of code to respond to user preference.

I also dislike being referred to as a newbie after having an account for more than ten years.

My Question or Issue

I am BEGGING your devs to come up with a way to enable removing content from our play history. I check out songs that get recommended to me sometimes, or have my Spotify running and someone uses it to find music they want to listen to, and so help me I just want to be able to REMOVE IT FROM MY HISTORY. Your algorithm already kicked off, I can accept getting irrelevant recommendations, as that already happens whether I'm the only one listening or not, and that's fine. BUT, considering we're paying an increasingly higher rate for our subs as time goes on, the least you could do is give us more personalized control over what we've got on our dashboards? I think that ultimately we should be able to remove anything and everything we don't want to see from there, but maybe that's too much too soon; I don't know what your end-user business model looks like beyond the unsatisfying state of it now.

Thanks for reading, and I sincerely hope you take these recommendations that I and many others share into serious consideration.

C'mon guys, why would there not be an option to remove titles from ones own  history?? I hope you are already working to allow this.

When I started playing a podcast I follow and listen to in my car, my app randomly switched to the Joe Rogan podcast, a podcast I VERY MUCH do not want to listen to or want in my algorithm. I now see the episode in my recently listened to. There used to be an option to hide something from my recently played or delete from history, but now I don't see one. How do I delete or hide the Joe Rogan podcast from my history?

I fell asleep listening to a song on my mobile and accidentally pressed play during my sleep and now my history/recommendations are saying that this is my all time most listened to song. How can I get this removed from my account/algorithm/spotify wrapped? I don’t even know the artist or the song & it’s annoying me that it keeps coming up on DJ as my top song.

100% agree.
I was putting my TWS earphones back into charging case, and somehow it triggered the playback functionality on my Windows laptop. Now I'm stuck with songs in my history that I "played in Spotify", which I've never heard of them before to begin with at all, since my laptop speakers were muted, when I disconnected my earphones.

For everyone that wants to delete tracks from their history, please go vote for the reinstation  of this feature under the live ideas tab. Email Spotify. Make a fuss. Unsubscribe if you have to

If Google and Facebook, two of the most greedy data companies, let you delete your streaming history so should Spotify.

Look. You are not irreplaceable. There are a lot of other services and transferring playlists to them is not a problem anymore.

I am paying you monthly for a family plan but cannot control my own data? And you’re a Sweden based company going under GDPR? Must I remind you that you up until recently had a person hired full time who’s only job was to design the shuffle button… You have a request from your users, and obviously the resources for it, what you choose to do with this is what determines your future.

So Spotify sucks? Got it. Will be moving providers shortly
