Spotify will not play songs from my Liked songs playlist. It’s only the Liked songs playlist that doesn't play songs - others are fine. When I try to click on a song it stops anything else that is playing but does not start playing any new track. There are no error messages.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Android 14. I have no SD card.
Spotify 9.0.14.561. Premium subscription.
Other devices are fine.
Clean reinstall does not work (including checking for co.spotify.music files etc.).
Other users have the same problem and have been for a number of years. The issue comes and goes but always comes back.
I have tried to get Spotify Support to fix this many times and they have never been able to. I always get passed from one person to the next over many days, each one starting again asking me the same questions. Whenever I raise this, the support person abandons me, cutting me off without saying anything, then I get passed to yet another person who starts again asking the same questions. There is clearly no accountability or tracking resolutions with Spotify Support staff. So far, every one of the following support staff has done this:

I have tried every suggestion in this thread, I am using the most up to date version of the app and still my liked songs won't play. Honestly I am getting tired of Spotify's constant bugs and glitches.
For anyone having issues particularly with the Mac desktop app not playing your liked songs, here's what worked for me.
Issue: When I hit play on my liked songs, it would only play downloaded songs. When I try to play a specific song, it would say "unable to play right now". Reinstalling and relogging-in did not help. All other playlists were working and I could select individual songs to play, just not from my liked songs.
Solve: Click the home button then press play on the liked songs button on the home screen. Don't use the sidebar liked songs button. This will play the liked songs from the start of your list and then allow you to adjust from there. This also should fix the sidebar liked songs button which seemingly was linked to the broken liked songs page, now linked to the working one.
when I click a song in my liked songs playlist it won’t play until I close the app and open it again. And if I click the play button for the playlist it takes forever to load. I have deleted the app and it works temporarily then stops working again.
I can see my liked songs playlist, however, whenever I go to play a song off of it it freezes and doesn’t play anything. I cleared my cache, logged out and in, and reinstalled the app. Nothing has worked. It’s not the end of the world, but it is a huge inconvenience when I’m trying to put together a playlist.

My Question or Issue
Hi, so I am having an issue playing songs off of my “Liked Songs” playlist. All my other playlists work, however, whenever I click on a song from my Liked Songs, the playback disappears and nothing plays. I have tried restarting, clearing my cache, logging out and back in, reinstalling the app, and restarting my iphone— nothing has worked.
Edit— I have found that this issue only presents itself when I am using the genre filters. When I am using regular Liked Songs without the filters it works fine. I hope someone can help me!!!
Seems like spotify did an update and songs play! Now when choose a genre from my likes it doesn't just play that genre! It mixes in others even when not in shuffle
I’m going through this right now have you found a solution
I’m also having the same issue. On iPhone 14, same ios.
likewise, it breaks when using the genre filters on my liked songs playlist, but is fine when not filtering.
Same! It’s been like this for over a week! I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail

The issue:
When I try to play a specific song from my liked songs, it says that Spotify is unable to play this song right now, and to import a file. However, if I just press play on my liked songs, it always plays the same song from like liked songs.
I do not have this problem for the playlists which i created myself. I do not have this issue on my phone when i listed to liked songs.
For my desktop app, I have already tried to reinstall the app and clear the cache but it has not worked.

My Question or Issue
Lately I haven't been able to play songs from my Liked Songs playlist. I can hit the shuffle button at the top, but if I click an actual song, the player at the bottom and the queue disappear.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for the reports.
We've heard from our teams and this should be fixed now, just make sure to update your app to the latest version.
Let us know how it goes.
I am having a similar issue. My liked songs will play via the PC app, on Windows 11, but on my Android phone it will not. My solution the past couple of days has been to start playing on pc, transfer listening to my phone, and then be able to use the forward and back buttons in order to skip through my playlist. However, if I want to hear a specific song from my liked songs, when I click on it, it stops playing entirely, and just does nothing.
The only way to listen to a specific song that I want to hear is to use the search function, search for that song, listen to it, and then I'll have to continue using the search function or the suggested songs based on that one song that I searched for in order to continue listening to music.
I can't go back to my playlist and listen to a song from my liked songs that I have previously listened to, or even the one that I just finished listening to.
This is a new issue, it started last week, actually, it started when I hooked up to the wi-fi at work, and the app decided to try and download all 1100 songs on my playlist while I was at work.
IDK why it didn't do that at the Wi-Fi I had at my old house, since I had this phone there for about 2 months, it only just decided to do this the other day while I was at work.
Now I can't listen to the songs I want to listen to without having to search for them first.
People are still reporting this issue. I don't know if I still have the issue as I've been using a very long work around of segmenting my liked list into other lists (which then do play) but this is a ridiculous thing to have to spend time on in order to play the songs I'm paying for. When will it be fixed?
Hey folks,
It's worth logging out and signing back in twice in a row - this will force a resync of the app which may help here. I'd also recommend performing a clean reinstall of Spotify to get rid of any potentially corrupted cache and ensure you're running the latest updates.
Cheers 🤘

hitting the button beside the play button in the playlist to turn off smart shuffle fixed the issue for me
that's insane how you find out about this
