My Question or Issue
Hey @Hitnation22,
Thanks for posting this thread in the Community!
Your library size could have something to do with this behavior, however, since you mentioned that this started happening about 2 weeks ago, it's worth performing some more troubleshooting steps. It's also great that you've already included in your post what you've tested with.
To get a better understanding of the situation, can you let us know if the same thing happens with other playlists (not only with Liked Songs)? Does the behavior persist on another device or is it only on the PS5?
As this behavior sounds like it may be linked to a connection issue, it would be great if you could test with another network connection (for example mobile data shared via hotspot) and restarting your router if you've not done this already.
A more advanced step would be to change the DNS settings of your router to 8.8.8.8.
We'll be on the lookout for your response 🙂
Hey Ivelina, thanks for getting back to me, the same liked songs playlist I use on my phone everyday with no worries and tried it on my computer and it works perfectly fine on there. I haven't tried the router fix yet but I'll try to try by the end of the day. I've also tried shuffling the playlist on my phone and my computer then linking it to my PS5 and it still does the same thing and just wiped the queue completely out besides the song that was currently playing. The other playlists that I have have worked on PS5 regularly and shuffle relatively fast without any worries at all which is what makes me very confused about the liked songs being the playlist that my PS5 doesn't want to work with.
Hey @Hitnation22,
Thanks for getting back to us with this info.
Take your time to test with another network as @Ivelina suggested above and let us know how it goes. Since it only happens to your Liked songs, what you can also try is to split your large playlist into smaller ones to see of that makes the difference.
Keep us posted.
Hey Eni, sorry for the later reply, but I got around to trying to fix the issue by trying to connect to a different network and trying to play it and the same issue occured. I don't know if a screenshot will help but I tried to provide what it looks when I try to connect to my PS5 from phone. The picture below is what it does even if I start the playlist from my PS5.
Hi there @Hitnation22,
Thanks for your reply and for trying out all our recommendations.
This is very simple, but it's worth the try:
On another note, could you try using a different Spotify account on your PS5? It can be a relative or friend's account. This will help us know if this is account-related. You can also try what @en suggested and split your large playlist into smaller ones to see of that makes the difference.
Let us know how that goes.
Hey Susan, thank you for your help but the conclusion that I think I've come to is that the likes songs playlist has too many songs and the PS5 can't handle it which is unfortunate but I understand. I just got done trying both of these fixes and on a different account with 5 liked songs, it shuffles and plays perfectly. I tried the restart as well and nothing changed so I do thank you for all your help but I think it's ultimately come down to the amount of "liked songs" that the PS5 won't register. I did provide a picture below of what it looks like from the PS5 perspective but I don't know how much help it'll be as of now.
Hey again @Hitnation22,
We really appreciate your cooperation and details that you provided.
As you mentioned that you don't experience the same behavior with another account with less tracks in Liked Songs, the behavior from your account on the PS5 could be because of the large amount of liked songs. We understand that it's not an ideal solution, but as suggested previously you could separate your liked songs into different playlists into smaller portions as a workaround.
To select and copy tracks in bulk (to then paste in a new playlist) in the desktop app or web player, click on one song then holding Shift, click on another song in the playlist. This would select all the tracks in between. You can also select multiple songs by holding Ctrl. On Windows you copy with Ctrl + C and paste with Ctrl + V and on Mac it's Cmd + C > Cmd + V.
If you need help with anything else, the Community's here so don't hesitate to let us know.
Take care!
this is not a solution.
look, this is not a solution. ive never had this issue on xbox or ps5 a couple of months ago. i shouldnt have to create smaller playlists just to listen to my music, i want to shuffle all of the music i like at once. liked songs has an absolute fit ONLY on ps5, which means every other medium has it figured out, therefore there HAS to be a fix.
