Liked songs playlist isn't updating across different platforms

Liked songs playlist isn't updating across different platforms

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an issue I've been having with my "Liked Songs" playlist on Spotify. It seems that the playlist isn't updating consistently across different platforms, including the Windows 11 app, the iOS app, and the web version.

Here are the current discrepancies in the number of songs displayed on each platform:

Windows 11: 468 songs
iOS: 352 songs
Web: 480 songs

As you can see, the number of songs varies quite a bit, and there are several missing tracks depending on which device I use.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, do you have any tips on how to resolve it? It’s pretty frustrating to have such an inconsistent experience across devices.

Yes this is still a problem, liked song and playlists not adding songs that are added on mobile to desktop app. Personally i have had this issue for 3 weeks now, and its also causing playback issues, say if i hit play on my liked songs on desktop and tab out to do something else, if the song ends or its skipped it has a chance to be a missing track, (no track name or cover art just the music note on a grey screen) perhaps a unsynced song but it causes the music to stop, which you then have to tab back in to replay the playlist as skip button will not do anything as it stops the queue, where the issue will likely happen again in a matter of minutes

My apps were up to date, I don't use any VPN, I tried re-logging several times as well as pairing the devices by QR code.None of this worked.

So here is what did work for me.

Originally I downloaded Spotify installer for my PC through the Spotify website and not the Microsoft store. I have now uninstalled the original installation and re-installed it through the Microsoft store, it has finally synced my library. Just a simple uninstall and then a new install through the Microsoft store. No rebooting in between or anything.

Hope this helps others!

My Question or Issue

Hello all,

i use Spotify on multiple devices but discovered an issue with the Desktop Version on my Windows 10 Pc. Since about February, the Favourite Song Playlist does not sync anymore and also cannot play the Songs when controlled (forced) by another client (ios or win 11) The error message just reads ,,this song cannot be played curently". I havent found any recent similar problems and resetting the App or signing in and out did not work. Weirdly, the problem only occurs on my favourites Playlist and not with other playlists.

Yes this issue is still occurring, I'm missing almost 1000 songs so who knows how long since it's last synced

Hey folks,

Thanks for your replies.

If the issue persists, please let us know the following so we can report it to our tech team:

  • The model, OS version and Spotify version of the devices you're using.
  • Which device are you liking the songs on and on which device are they not appearing?
  • Are you able to control/transfer the playback from one device to the other?
  • The troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.

Cheers,

The issue is recurring. I've experienced it multiple times by now.

Clearing all cache information and reloading the application may help, but it's a temporary solution as the problem is coming back. Surprisingly, when I ran spotify from the terminal right now (exact command: `spotify --debug-level=MAX --show-console`), the playlist got synced with the server. It might've been luck, though, since I really doubt log level would affect it. The command run when starting the application by clicking on it is defined as `spotify %U`.

It seems like it might be a consistency issue in the cluster. Maybe part of the cache is the IP of the server the application should connect to?

Devices/versions:
* iPhone 15, iOS 18.3.1, Spotify version: 9.0.26.607
* PC, Fedora 41, GNOME Shell 47.4, all third-party dependencies always kept up-to-date. Spotify version: 1.2.56.502.ga68d2d4f, Copyright (c) 2025, Spotify Ltd

Also having this exact same issue, in particular songs added on iOS don't always update the liked playlist on Windows 10 desktop version

Hey folks,

Thanks for your replies.

@dawmd, thanks for sending us this info!

@GreenPixel173, make sure to send us all the info @MihailY requested above. We'd like to take a closer look.

We'll be on the lookout for your replies.

I add new tracks to my playlist on my phone, then open Spotify on my computer, and... BAM! The playlist still looks the same. I have to manually open it to get the update.

Why doesn't Spotify have an option to auto-refresh playlists on app launch? 🤔

Imagine if there was an "Refresh All Playlists" button in the settings – just one click and everything's synced up across all devices. So simple, yet so effective!

What do you think? Maybe if enough people agree, they might add it. 🚀

Thanks, that did it. I had tried re-downloading the app, updating, keeping Spotify open as a mobile app and nothing helped. But in the desktop app (Help - Troubleshooting - Reset app data and restart) everything worked.

I am also having this problem and use an iPhone 15 with 9.0.28.607. I’ve tried going offline, restarting, playing from another device and then transferring to my iPhone. None of it works. Going to have to reinstall but then will lose all my downloads.

Hi community, I just want to report that I have the same issue. On my Samsung S22, my car and my 2 Ipads synchronization of „liked songs“ is always ok. But on my old iphone 8 it happens that the playlist is not synced. I mostly am missing songs on the iphone, which had been recently added on the Ipad. I tried to log on/off on the iphone, cleared cache, updated the app, stopped offline mode. Nothing helps. Normally days later if I look again, the songs appear. Is there not trigger to force the update locally? Thanks for you help, Jochen

Hey guys also having the same issue, not sure when it started, I think this year? I know that doesn't narrow it down much.

I ended up being frustrated and just adding the songs to my 'Liked Songs' on the desktop app, but usually I add it on my mobile (Samsung S22 Ultra).

Desktop version: Spotify for Windows (64 bit) 1.2.59.514.g834e17d4

Mobile version: 9.0.28.630

On desktop I tried clearing cache and restarting, logging out + in, didn't seem to make a difference.

Actually thought it was all up to date but noticed a discrepancy,

Desktop: 685 songs

Mobile: 682 songs

I've had this issue on ALL devices except my Android app on my phone for months. It started in one of the updates a few months ago. It happens on Samsung watches, Google watches, Android car head units (all 4 cars with different units), Windows laptops and desktops, and pretty much anything that isn't a mobile phone. Spotify DOES NOT CARE about anything but money. Why is something ALWAYS broken?

YES, they are all up to date, YES I'm probably smarter than you at anything tech related, and YES, I've tried every basic step you'd possibly recommend which I shouldn't have had to try at all because this is 100% a bug from the update a few months back that's persistent. You know what does work though? Your garbage pop ups about things I don't care to see, and your broken shuffle that plays the SAME SONGS OVER AND OVER... those ALWAYS work. Cheers

Hey everyone,

Thanks for posting in this thread!

As we've passed this on to our tech folks, we'd also like to share with you that the sync issues you're experiencing with Liked Songs should be fixed in a future app release 🙂

While we can't provide you with an exact timeframe, we recommend keeping the app up-to-date in the meantime. This is to ensure you get the latest fixes and features as soon as they're released.

Feel free to let us know when you notice a difference in the app behavior.

Cheers!

My Question or Issue

My Spotify on my phone liked songs will not show on my desktop. on my desktop im missing 100 of my liked songs when my phone shows the whole list.

Just wanted to update that my phone (Galaxy S22 Ultra) and PC (windows 11 spotify app) do seem to sync again however the issue still persists on my Galaxy Watch, I don't believe any liked songs from my phone or PC have updated on it for well over a month now.

This is still happening. Adding songs on android app and they won't show up on windows app. I shouldn't need to reinstall, re-log in to the app...
