My Question or Issue

So I recently tried to add my own music to my iPhone using my local files on Spotify. The playlist was fine on my laptop but nothing appeared on my phone. The playlist did but none of the songs even showed up. I have no idea what to do as I often sync up my laptop and phone and add local files and everything is fine but I have no idea what's happening now. Does anyone have any idea?

Hi there @txbi89

thanks for posting!

Have you tried the following :

  1. Import your local files to the Spotify desktop app (see "Desktop" instructions above).
  2. Add the files to a new playlist in the desktop app:
    1. Click New Playlist in the menu on the left.
    2. Give your playlist a name and click CREATE.
    3. Drag and drop your local files into this playlist.
  3. Log in on your mobile or tablet using the same WiFi network as your desktop app.
  4. Select the playlist containing the local files.
  5. Switch Download on.
Didn’t work?

If after adding them to the desktop app you don’t see them on your mobile or tablet:

  • Check you're logged in to the same account on both your desktop and mobile.
  • Check your devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
  • You must have the latest version of the Spotify app installed on both devices.
  • Check your device's firmware is up-to-date.

Waiting on your update 🙂

I have a similar problem, but it's only one of my local files that wont show up. I created a new playlist with only local files, downloaded, but one of the song dont show up on my phone at all. Really annoying because this is one of my all time favorites and I had it sync'd and downloaded earlier this year, but somehow it disappered. Any thoughts?

I'm on the same network and apps are updated.

Hey @HappyGoLykke,

Thanks for reaching out here and welcome to the Community!

Just to clarify, can you first confirm that the one song that's missing on your phone, does show up on your desktop device in your local files and is not grayed out. If it is, this song might be in an unsupported format. You can look up the types of files that are supported in this article on our support website.

In case your track is in a supported format but still doesn't show up on your phone, we suggest you check out this post with some good troubleshooting steps you can try.

Let us know how it goes and if you still need help, we're always here for you 🙂
