Picture in Discover this week playlist is not me, but my friend

Picture in Discover this week playlist is not me, but my friend

Hi, for the past two weeks I've noticed that the "Discover this week" playlist is showing a picture of my friend instead of me even though it says it was created for me (plus my handle). In my account I can see the picture is the one I use, but only in the playlist there's someone else (my friend who once, many years ago shared her playlist with me - thought it could be relevant).
I'd appreciate if it was fixed. The issue occurs on both mobile and desktop app.

Hey,

Thanks for reaching out.

This is indeed odd. Can you try unfollowing the playlist and then re-adding it to Your Library from Browse - Made For You - Discover New Music

Hey, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately this didn't help 😞 The pic is still of my friend, not me. But it does say my name in the description, so looks the same as before. Also, I did have two Discover weekly playlists added, one was in fact for my friend, but both had her pic in - adding the screenshot.

Thanks for the screenshot, @Kiki_Mbwele!

Have you tried clearing the app's cache to see if that helps? You can do so in Settings > Storage. It's also worth logging out everywhere from your account page and signing back in on all devices to force a refresh which may help here.

Something else you can try is changing your profile photo to see if the playlist's cover will update accordingly. Note that you may need to wait for Discover Weekly to refresh again before the changes take effect.

Cheers 🤘

My Question or Issue

Its not a major thing but it bugs me a lot. The picture on my weekly mix is the one of a friend of my (whoms weekly mix I follow). It also appears on my laptop, so it is not only tied to my phone. I would be very happy to change it but I can't. I tried by changing my profile pic, by unfollowing his playlist...

Hi Steffillie, I have the same issue. For now I changed my profile pic and I'm waiting till next week's playlist is prepared so I can check if this helped (as per Yordan's advice). So far, even though I unfollowed my friend's playlist, mine is still showing her pic (on both mobile and desktop.

I have this same issue! It's been like this for ~4 weeks now - Identical Discover Weekly cover photo as my friend's Discover Weekly (of which I also follow). Have tried changing my profile photo, clearing cache, working in browser/phone/desktop app, and still no difference. 😞

Hey again folks,

Thanks for joining the thread @TheDanceJuice and @Steffillie.

As we'd like to take a further look into this, it would be very helpful if you could share the device(s) and OS-versions this is happening on, as well as the Spotify-versions you're using.

Additionally, let us know if the same thing happens in the Web Player.

@Kiki_Mbwele let us know if changing your profile pic made a difference once you get the updated playlist.

We appreciate the cooperation and will be on the lookout.

Hello, I have also had the same issue—my discover weekly cover photo is a random person I don’t know. It has been like this for 2 or 3 weeks.

I tried clearing the cache, and replacing my photo, but those have not resolved the issue.

I’m on iOS 18.3.1

Spotify version 9.0.26.607

I've noticed that my "Discover This Week" playlist displays a picture of my friend instead of me, even though it says it was created for me (along with my handle). My account profile picture is correct everywhere else, but only this playlist shows someone else’s image. The friend in the picture once shared a playlist with me years ago, which might be relevant. The issue occurs on both the mobile and desktop app. I’d appreciate it if this could be fixed.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your reports.

We've forwarded this to our tech team and we'll keep you posted on any updates in this thread.

Cheers,

My Question or Issue

Discover weekly keeps creating each week with a picture of another user account.

Some details I can share: previously I had no account picture added, and few weeks ago this user shared with me the link to his discover weekly playlist

From that moment my Discover weekly always has the cover of this user account picture.

Few days ago I added my own profile picture to account, but it didn't help

Hey @Demonologist_UA, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I’m sorry to hear this. In this case, I’d recommend checking out this support article for the next steps to take.

To prevent this from happening in the future, there are many measures you can take to protect your account, such as resetting your password every few months, and not using passwords you have used on other sites. There is also a great guide here for some more measures on protecting your account.

If you see an email from Spotify, and can’t tell if it’s legit, use this checklist. Of course, Spotify makes sure that all user records and platforms are completely secure around the clock.

I hope this helps.

Hi Billy-J,

I really appreciate your response! However, my issue is not related to losing access to my account or logging into the wrong one.

I am experiencing a bug with the "Discover Weekly" cover image. As I understand, this playlist’s cover is automatically generated and should always match my profile picture.

However, there seems to be a recurring issue—each week, the cover image of my "Discover Weekly" playlist displays another user's profile picture instead of my own. This happens consistently, week after week.

Hi all,

just an update - unfortunately none of the workarounds helped, I still have my friend's pic in my playlist. Hopefully the tech team can help 🙂 Thanks in advance!
