My Question or Issue
Hi, release radar isn't updating on my apps (either phone or laptop). I've deleted the app on both devices and reinstalled. No change. Logged out twice on both devices, no change. BUT it does update on the web player... so something isn't syncing specifically with the devices. Are there lingering files on the device that aren't getting cleared when I uninstall?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Version 8.9.66.543 on Android
Playing Release Radar on the phone works fine but when casting to a Spotify connect device some songs in the Release Radar list refuses to play.
If I add the Release Radar to the queue, all songs play correctly
Update for Aug 23, 2024: same issues persist. To clarify, it will say that all of the songs were added "40 minutes ago", so the list itself is updating. But it is updating with songs that are not new releases. The songs will have been released last week, two weeks ago, last month etc. These older songs will appear on the weekly refreshed list multiple weeks in a row, thus defeating the purpose of a new releases playlist.

My Question or Issue
When loading my friends' or other people's Release Radar, it updates to my own list instead. For Discovery Weekly this does not happen.
Last week, while listening to my Release Radar on web, I realized my playlist had updated (despite it being around 11am PST) and now only some of the songs on the original playlist I saw were listed in a different order than before, amidst new songs in the playlist. When I tried playing this new Release Radar from the beginning, I noticed it skipped around the old songs that stayed in the list, and I realized it was still playing the old playlist, not the playlist visible on screen. I talked about this in a reply to another Community post here.
Now on this Friday, a week later, it appears like my Release Radar is playing a completely different playlist than listed. If I press the play button for the playlist with shuffle off, it starts playing a song that isn't listed in the Release Radar. When I open the queue, there aren't really any songs there are in the visible playlist. There are some songs listed that will play when I skip/forward through this phantom playlist, but they're in the middle of the visible playlist.
I cannot double click or press the play button on a song directly in my Release Radar. I can, however, drag them individually to another playlist and listen to those songs there.
I cleared my cache for Spotify web last week when I first had issues with Release Radar. No change. I'm using Firefox 129.0.2 (64-bit).
Having the same issue. Release Radar – luckily so far seems to be the only playlist affected – does not play the songs it lists. At most, it will play one song deliberately chosen from the list, but will then proceed to play whatever. (I didn't bother to check if it is playing songs from the previous week, that are no longer visible in the list. But it seems as if a couple of songs stay in the list for weeks on end – noticeable for those saved to the library.)
Same here and everyone of my friends that I've asked. I hope they resolve this soon.
Same. What are the stupid updates with Release radar changes...
What works as a workaround is to put each and any song into the queue. Happy clicking everybody 😉.
I found a workaround

My Question or Issue
Until a few months ago my release radar showed me new releases of artists I follow. Admittedly a lot of them are inactive at the moment. I assume that's why nowadays I get songs and artists I don't know at all. I wouldn't mind that if the new stuff would be similar to my taste in any kind of way.
Instead I get absolutely random stuff that's got nothing to do with anything I ever listened to. I started to hide the songs and even activated "don't play this artist" for several tracks, but that doesn't change anything, the following week I get just new songs of the same kind.
I used to love that playlist cause it kept me in the loop with new releases of "my" artists. I'm also open to new music - as long as it resembles my taste! But the playlist in its current state is absolutely useless. Please fix this!!
Mine hasn't updated in two weeks. I deleted cache and data and signed back in, but still didn't update.
Same here - I can only select certain songs from Release Radar on the mobile app (others won’t play), and the queue is completely different from the playlist.
The maddening part is that there’s music I want to hear in both.
Feels like a glitch with how songs are added/removed automatically from that list.
I have had the same issue for weeks now. Will try to emulate it and show you.
Even I'm having the same issue though this begun to happen recently as of a couple days ago. I'm glad its not just me having this very issue. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next update whenever its released across all platforms.
I think it is fixed now? 🙂
Now it's OK 😊. Hope in the future it will be fine too
I am also having these issues... Songs in the release radar are being reordered for no reason and I am also not getting a new set of songs each week
Radar playing what the playlist says and in order for me again, too. Thanks to whoever at Spotify for the fix.
Hello folks,
Appreciate you taking the time to post your details and updates in this thread. It really helps us with the investigation.
We've seen that some of you reported that the issue with their Release Radar not updating on the Web Player is fixed and we can also confirm this should be fixed, however we noticed other reports as well. They have to do with the Release Radar playlist and queue not syncing. We'd like to take a further look and those of you that are reporting this behavior, is it still happening or has the playback normalized?
If you're still experiencing the issue that Release Radar and queue are not syncing, it'd be very helpful if you could send us some additional details (if you haven't already):
We'll be on the lookout 🙂
