My Question or Issue

Ever since my Spotify app updated yesterday, it's been automatically enabling shuffle every time I try to play something from my liked songs list. This is extremely frustrating as I play most of my songs directly through my liked songs list and have them ordered a specific way; I do not want them to shuffle so it can play hyperpop when I'm listening to ambient, for example. This only happens with my liked songs list so far, other playlists aren't affected by this as far as I can tell.

Is this a glitch or a new feature that can't be turned off? I'm confused and can't find any setting or mention of it anywhere, and as I said I'm frustrated with having to remember to cycle through both shuffle modes every time I play a song.

Hi there @GDog507,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be happy to help you get Shuffle working as expected again.

Does this only happen across Linux or on other devices too? If you haven't tested this, please do so. And when you start the playback, where do you do it from? If you're starting it from the big play button at the top, then check if the shuffle next to it is enabled, because this will result in the playback always being shuffled. Let us know if the same happens when you try to select a specific song from the list instead.

Keep us posted.

I actually didn't have Spotify on anything but my computer, I downloaded it onto my iPhone for testing and it didn't have the shuffle re-enable on there. Also, after I signed into Spotify on my phone, the shuffle feature hasn't been turning itself on anymore on my PC. I don't know why that is, but at least it's working normally again.

And as on the issue, I was playing the songs from the play button next to each song and would have the shuffle toggled off while doing so.

Hey @GDog507

Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know.

Great news! Give us a shout if it starts misbehaving again, we'll be here to help.
