Spotify adds random songs to my ”Liked Songs” playlist

Spotify adds random songs to my ”Liked Songs” playlist

My Issue:

Spotify keeps adding random songs to my ”Liked Songs” playlist.

What does this mean? My ”Liked Songs” playlist contains all kind of songs I don't know anything about. These aren't songs I accidentally liked. These aren't songs I recognize. Furthermore, I hate most of these songs.

Nobody else has access to my Spotify account or to the devices I use Spotify on. Two apps have access to it though - one is Spotify's Web Player, the other is Shazam.

The songs I search using Shazam go to a special playlist. Also, the app doesn't automatically like them for me.

This has been an ongoing issue for me. At first, I thought maybe I wasn't paying attention and accidentally liked these songs. I unliked everything I didn't like.

Then it happened again. I thought that maybe, just maybe, I don't understand how the ”Liked Songs” playlists works.

Now it happened again. It's very annoying. I was trying to enjoy some time off listening to music I like, and instead I woke up having to remove awful songs from my playlist.

I hate this. It is annoying and time-consuming. I also don't know how to stop it or prevent it from happening. It also affects my Release Radar and Discover Daily - two playlists containing almost nothing I enjoy listening.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the replies.

Can you make sure that Smart Shuffle is toggled off for your Liked Songs?

Something else that could be doing this is is another app which is linked to Spotify. It's worth checking the list of apps connected to your account and removing access.

A third possibility is that you've logged your account in on a device like a TV / speaker to which more people have access to and can like songs sometimes. You can log out from those by signing out everywhere

Hope this helps.

Hey folks!

This issue seems to be related to your third party apps. Please remove them as shown here.
After making sure you have no third party apps left, go through the steps here under "Still have access to your account?".
Once this is done, you can manually re-add any of the third party apps you wish to have. Note that if you add the one that has been causing your troubles to begin with, your issue will re-appear.

Hope this helps; keep us posted on how things go 🙂

I have the same issue. Every it’s not random songs that are added to my liked songs though it’s always Jessie murph. Every time she brings out a new album it’s added to the top of my liked songs. I’ve never even listened to her music. And every couple months after I delete them all a new set of songs by her is added again. I’ve tried blocking her, didn’t work. I tried logging out and logging in again. Enhance isn’t on for me either.

Its been happening to me since I started using the app. I bought premium, but didnt use the app for months. when I finally remembered i had it, I logged in and there were over 100 liked songs. I just deleted the entire liked folder. So now every month I have to delete anywhere from 10 - 30 liked songs Ive never heard of in my life. My Spotify IS NOT compromised. As I have changed my password many times.  My brother and my Daughter have the same issue. I think its some internal programming to push certain Music. As I have noticed on most Message boards that the pushed Music is similar Genre as what I'm getting...

I addet one song of this artist to my list and now every **bleep**ing song this guy posts gets addet automatically. I already blocked his account and it still **bleep**ing happens.

Hello everybody! I have a question, some random songs added to my library from unknown by me author. Just opened app and noticed that whole album by unknown author added to my library. It is not the first time already with exactly this author.

I have the same issue.  Just checked artist September, the app on PC says I like 53 songs; the 53 songs appear in a list but only the actual 2 I liked and d/l'd show up as liked and dl'd.  I checked linked and unlinked a couple apps but it did nothing, I couldn't see how they could possibly have anything to do with this issue anyways.

Any more ideas?

FIXED:  I had Liked 2 albums, well duh lol.  Great artist by the way.   I had apparently confused Liked with Downloaded.

I have had hundreds of songs added to my liked playlist, none of which I have added.  The only app I had linked was sonos, which had been linked for a while without issue. I have unlinked that now, but I cannot say if that has fixed the issue.

30 songs were added in around 30 minutes earlier today, no idea when this began exactly, but it was definitely in the last day or two, as I was using the liked playlist on Saturday (now Monday)

Is there a fix for this, or am I stuck removing all these songs manually?

This has also happened to me, but they are all from one artist "Mon Rovia" and sometimes are entire albums. I continue to remove them from my liked songs, but it has been continuing for months.

This has happened to me multiple times and I am dealing with it now. I have no enhance button nor is smart shuffle on. I have already changed my password after signing out everywhere so nobody but me has access, yet i keep getting songs that I dont know or like. WTH is going on

So this is happening to me now and I have done the following several times:
1. Logged out everywhere.

2. Changed password.

3. Removed all apps.

4. Disable smart shuffle.

Yet hundreds of songs are being added to my 'Liked Songs'.

Well i have the same problem right now and i cant stop it

Hello, so I did not have any apps before but I went in and checked just to be sure; there is none.

To reiterate, several hours ago I have on multiple occasions:

1. Logged out everywhere.

2. Changed password.

3. Removed all apps.

4. Disable smart shuffle.

Strangely enough the songs that are being added are the same ones as the user "かわいいソニック" above, plus hundreds more.

Hey @Sandman4,

Thanks for following up and for sending over more details!

It is indeed odd that the added songs are the same ones. Considering that it is the same tracks, however, it leads us to believe a 3rd party service/app could be involved in this.

As you mention that Manage apps page already is empty, it's possible that the service/app which interferes is linked in a different way still. Just to make sure we cover all bases, could you sign out from all devices again following the steps here? It's also worth having a look at the suggestions mentioned on this page, just to be on the safe side.

Let us know if you notice any difference!

I was using Spotify normally yesterday. Went to sleep, woke up the next morning only to find that my "top artists" for this month consisted exclusively of artists I have never listened to, a bunch of unknown songs had been added to my "Liked" songs, and my "on repeat" playlist was full of songs I have never listened to. How can someone in less than 24 hours somehow cause all my top artists to be replaced by artists I have never listened to and never heard of, my recent plays to consist of playlists and albums I've never listened to, like a bunch of songs I've never listened to, and messed up my "on repeat" playlist with songs I've never listened to from artists I've never listened to?

I will also add that I already had 2-factor authentication enabled and a very strong password. I also received no security notifications from Spotify nor Facebook. I did notice that when I went to use Spotify today, I had to log in for some reason even though I used it just hours before. If this was indeed caused by a hacker, why would they like a bunch of songs knowing I would never have listened to them? And how were they able to in less than 12 hours replace all my actual top artists with a bunch of artists I have never listened to and never even heard of? I've attached a screenshot of how my "top artists" page looks. I will reiterate that I have NEVER listened to any of these artists, and I had NEVER even heard of them before.

The exact same thing is happening to me. I have removed EVERY third party apps, which is only connecting it to discord because I have never used my Spotify account for anything other than that either. It kept adding random songs from “bossa” something, lofi songs and etc, my liked songs went from 620 to over 1000 liked songs in a week, and I had to manually delete every single one of them which took me 3 hours. Along with the playlist spotify created for me like daily mix, on repeat. It is now contaminated with those songs as well. PLEASE, fix this problem😭 because I realized another person is going through the exact same issue with the same exact songs.
