Unfollowed Podcasts Won’t Leave ‘New Episodes’ Section

hi, i have had a problem with the new episodes section of my spotify account. there’s a podcast i listened to a few episodes of and the unfollowed, but it still appears in my new episodes section. i’ve tried marking all the episodes i listened to as unplayed, refollowing and unfollowing, deleting and reinstalling the app, but none of this has stopped the podcast from appearing in the new episodes section. does anyone know if there’s a way to fix this? it’s very annoying since this podcast is much more active than any other i listen to and it often ends up taking too much space in the new episode section.

Mid 2024 and still not fixed.

This feature is unbelievably annoying. Because of this, I don't even want to click a new show to see what's inside, because if I click a wrong one it will forever haunt me on my top screen.

Can spotofy remove this buggy "New Episode" feature from the top screen until the bug is fixed?

Because of $$, spotify earns so much green on this that its not called a
bug, its called the TOP feature... They have no reason at all to remove it
because their costumers pay anyway... So its not a bug, its a feature... A
feature that earns a lot of revenue...

I have no sources on this, but i cant see any other reason...

Ok now Spotify is just lazy and money grubbing. This problem has persisted still TO THIS DAY. Who cares though they get their money right?

I’m still having this issue as well. Not sure if it’s a coincidence but two of the pods that this happens with both have paid options to unlock them - I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Because most pods I can unfollow successfully without them showing up in my Whats New section.

I guess this forum post shows that spotify really dont care about anything
but money, they dont care to reply, dont care to fix this unwanted
"feature". But i guess another year goes by without spotify caring enough
to fix this...

Its amazing, this thread keeps on giving, and spotify loves the attention.
Its apparant that they dont want to do anything about this, but keep on
replying and keep this alive lets see how old it gets before something gets

Two years later and the best tips from the staff are ‘reinstall the app’, ‘check the cable connections’ and ‘try another account’.

As a mod, you have to start feeling ridiculous. It really can't be that difficult to programme. Click on ‘Unfollow’ and the personal history is thrown overboard. Or at least completely hidden.

But somehow all music streaming apps have that in common. Their app development is as slow as the growth of an oak tree.

Okay guys, I have a solution!

What I did was to report the content (podcast channels) that I don't want to see as "Content I don't like" (i'm translating the german spotify's section header, U.S. one might be slightly different).

Then after 1 week or so, they compeltely disappeared from my "New Episodes" or "Episodes for you" section!

This is happening to me to... tried uninstalling cache cleaning, threatening it, nothing works, the podcast is not being followed.. wth is it still showing up? Is this another marketing stunt? I'm on android.

I think this is done on purpose at this point, and I think its done because
they get higher ratings, and then earn more money.

What is worse is that, the new episodes of the podcasts that I actually follow don't show up in "New Episodes" or "My Episodes".

Yeah im on android and i feel that some time it is hit or miss of you find
the shows that you already are subscribed to.

Also i talked about this thread the other day, it must be strange for
spotify to just ignore it and it keeps fighting back. They really would
have had less work to do by just foxing what er ask...
