Watch and Listen: Introducing music videos on Spotify

Spotify knows that the listening experience is a way to connect artists with fans on many levels. But what if we could enhance these connections with a different perspective? 

With this in mind, Spotify is introducing a new and powerful way to listen to your favorite songs: Music Videos.

This exciting new feature is being rolled out in Beta for Premium users across more than 90 countries worldwide. At this point, Music Videos is with a limited catalog, but it includes hits from local artists and global ones like Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, and Ariana Grande.

How to watch music videos on Spotify:

• Music Videos is being rolled out in Beta for Premium users in some specific countries. This includes Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Philippines, Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Egypt and the United Kingdom.
• Music Videos is available for Premium users on iOS, Android, desktop, and TV devices. 
• You can access it through the Now Playing View, when listening to supported music tracks. You just need to tap the “Switch to Video” toggle and the music video will start playing from the beginning. To head back to audio-only mode, tap on “Switch to Audio”.
• You can watch the videos in either portrait or landscape modes, and it is also available for Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode.

Considering it's in Beta, Spotify will continue to improve the new feature based on feedback both from users and artists.

Currently, Spotify is working on ways to improve the experience of switching the playback from music to video and vice-versa, adopting a TimeSync transaction and this update is being released to the users gradually. There is also a 18+ content enforcement to prevent minors have access to explicit content.

Please, Spotify, give an option to disable all videos on account. I teach my kids to discover and listen to new music, now it is another screen-time gadget.

The issue is. I am moving the whole family to apple music, as I cannot stop my kids from looking this "music videos". In reality you have already a sh*t load of youtube-like videos here on spotify. I cannot switch of the videos as a parent expect by blocking URLs in the Router. Sorry guys, this feature sucks in the actual implementation. I love spotify and we loved the possibility of my kids exploring music and audio books. But we cannot use spotify anymore as this feature is not blockable. And with all respect, Kids will not not watch the videos if parents will tell them ;-).

The new video function means that when connected via Bluetooth in my VW navigation system, it now always says "Video available" instead of the artist. Please change this immediately.

Seria interessante se existisse uma opção nas configurações para desativar o video, por exemplo eu escuto na tv da empresa e quando a tv está em modo repouso a musica nao toca porque esta em video, ai tenho que acessar e tirar pra nao exibir o video mas isso precisa ser feito todas as vezes que conecto com a tv

Thanks very much, very good feature. Sometimes I would prefer watching music movies and I could do it by switching to another app which I don't have premium membership so I had to watch commercials also. Now I am more happy with spotify 🙂

Please add this as an option in settings. I dont like it tbh. I just want to listen to songs, thats it. Not all users want this. If we want to watch the music video of the song we can just go to YT.

I rather not see any music videos. I wish for the app to be about the music and maybe put the resources to help people find new music, not just music by artists who are already mainstream. 

If I were to be okay with any videos, it would be for videos maybe storytelling something about the song from the artists/producers, giving a view into history and the process.

Hi, as it does not seem Spotify is reading or listening to this thread. 
I created the "idea" to have an option to disable videos for an (kids) account: Idea Please-give-us-the-option-to-deactivate-videos . Perhaps some votes may make that visible enough.

As a true millenial who grew up watching music videos on mtv I LOVE THIS FEATURE. One thing is that I would love to be able to sort my playlists so I can see all the songs that have videos and wouldnt have to go through it manually.
