My Question or Issue

My playlist has new & older western pop songs in it- from 1970-2022.

For some bizarre reason, when I look at the recommended songs at the end of my list (that are supposed to based on the style of songs that are in the list) they are in an Asian language that is nothing like what I have ever listened to!

It changes too - when I first log in the songs are what I would normally expect to see (in English), then when I look at another list & come back to this one, it has changed to Asian again.

Both my tablet & desktop app have the same view/issue, so it must be something to do with my account.

Looks weird (see screenshot) & is a very strange glitch.

Hey @DJGarnet

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Could you let us know if this is happening on all your playlist or only on a specific one?

On another note, would you mind checking if the same happens on the web player?

Lastly, we suggest that you try again using a different internet connection to check if the issue persists.

Keep us posted.

Update - after posting this it stopped happening, until this afternoon. Now my suggested songs are in German??!!

Replying to your question - it only seems to be on this one playlist (checked others & they are fine)

As per before it is the same view on my tablet as my PC, AND this time I also checked my iphone & it shows the same bung songs as well wth.

Back on my PC, when using the main menu on the side- when I click another playlist, then click on this one (also from menu on side), the songs are still in another language.

However if I am looking at my 'glitched' list, then click another playlist from the menu on side, then use the BACK ARROW (not the link on the side) & look at it again, it changes back to English as normal.

As you can see from my screenshot - the songs suggested are nothing like the songs in my list

Totally weird.

Meant to also say - checked web player & it also shows the German songs...

So to recap- my Dell PC, my Samsung tablet, my iphone AND the web browser all show the same glitch.

One thought - is it because my playlist is so long (40 hours)

Are other other people having this happen as well?

Update #2 - this just happened on the other person in my family's account, while listening on the same Dell PC as me.

Organ Concerto No. 16 does not sound anything like Taylor Swift!!!!

This happened after the PC had been shut down then restarted.

It was on a totally different account to mine.

Only thing that was the same is they were both on the same internet connection

(however when testing my iPhone at the above comment- it was on mobile data)

Note: I have absolutely no desire whatsoever in listening to a Recorder Sonata in G Minor!

And cannot work out how Spotify recommends these songs based on what I have been listening to ;o)

Hi there @DJGarnet,

Thanks for the post and the detailed descriptions you've shared.

This issue is indeed very odd. It seems like it's recommending very specific genre based content. The German songs are actually audiobook chapters, and not even songs.

This issue is most likely related to something that's happening server side, rather than the playlist itself. It shouldn't matter that it is 40h long.

Nevertheless, could you try copying the songs from it over to a new playlist? You can use the desktop app to batch select multiple songs (Ctrl+Shift). Listen do the new one for a couple of days and let us know if you get the same issue with the recommendations. You can ask your family member to do the same.

Looking forward to your reply.
