[iOS] Duplicated songs: Issue when adding an entire album to a playlist

[iOS] Duplicated songs: Issue when adding an entire album to a playlist

I tried to add wolf to my playlist by Tyler the creator and it added the whole album instead of only songs not previously added which is annoying as this used to be a feature available or working before 😔😔😔

Hey there @Gator_M,

Thanks for posting on the Community! Hope you don't mind us moving your post, as it fits better here.

Just to confirm, does this happen when you open an album > press the 3 dots > click Add to playlist? Does this only happen on a specific device, or on all devices that you use Spotify on?

Also, could you try adding another album to see if the same thing happens?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Hey Maria, I just tested it again. As far as I am aware on my iPhone (so mobile app) when I press the 3 dots like you said, and then select for the option to add the album to the playlist it doesn’t check or notify me whether I want to add the whole album even the repeats or to add everything except the songs that are already in the playlist, hence the issue of repeats have been occurring for me; and on other occasions when I have tried to remove the repeats, all copies (of a single song/track) not just the one selected (ie the repeats) are removed so it’s been difficult to add albums I like to playlists atm 😔😔😔

Hey Maria, I just messaging to see how it's going on your side of things. Have they figured out why the message prompt about whether you want to add (a) repeated song(s) from a selected album to a playlist, or if you only wanted the songs not already on the playlist, is not appearing/generating or coming up when it should normally. Again I don't know the extent of how far it has affected users such as android, tablets, PC, macOS, etc.; but perhaps one of the most recent updates of bits/area of code has affected this message prompt. Again as I only noticed it on my iPhone it may only be affecting iOS users and maybe phone users in general, but in my opinion I think its like because spotify is jam packed trying to do lots of things at once such as podcasts, tiktok like videos (for music which makes no sense), audio books, learning courses, etc. maybe there's an issue with how they are all relating on the UI or internal code itself (and thus this functionality is not activating or working when it should).

(Ignore this at your own choice it is just my thoughts of the direction spotify should take:) Also you guys should really be working on the social aspects like in early spotify days and hosting a twitter like space for music heads to discuss albums and leave comments on tracks like in sound cloud but also Hi-Fi when is that coming out. (Sorry I know in the rules for making a post it states to say only one idea but I think if you brought spotify community to mainstream spotify/the app or program you would have one of the most popular streaming platforms and place for debate and connection but that's just my opinion. Sorry again just wishful thinking 🙂

Hey @Gator_M

Thanks for getting back to us!

We managed to reproduce this on our end so we've forwarded the issue internally to be looked into by the tech team in charge. Note that it might take some time for them to investigate the matter but we'll let you know as soon as there's an update.

Cheers.

Hey @Gator_M,

Thanks for your patience.

The relevant teams are aware of this issue, but we can't commit to a specific timeline for a fix.

We'd suggest keeping your app up to date at all times so you don't miss out on any developments.

If anything else comes up, the Community will be here.
