My Question or Issue
I recently had a child and used my Spotify account to play lullabies for a few weeks (mostly soft harp & piano music.) This is now all that appears in my "Your Discover Weekly" playlist for the last month. I have spent the last three weeks selecting "I don't like this song" on every item in the playlist, but it seems to have no effect. I am still listening to other music on my account and "liking" it, but my playlists are all harp and lullaby music.
My previous reply didn't work for me either. I have now created a proper Spotify account for my child, added that to the family and (annoyingly) log in and out of mine and my childs account when needed.
It's been a couple of weeks and still waiting for my discover weekly to present me things I like. (to be fair, I haven't used to Spotify to much in the last couple of weeks)
+1 to Discover Weekly is ruined, and I’m really frustrated, and I don’t want to mess around with settings or create a new account and transfer things. I want to flush and reset my taste profile and start fresh. I’m looking for a one button solution, or a competitor.
We, as parents of a newborn baby, need to have a playlist that has private session in it. That way all the lullabies and white noise sounds wont be recommended by spotify algorithm.
Its a must feature for new parents.
We tried to subscribe for another account just for.the baby, but signing in and out from the app, is frustrating
Same... I listen to sleepscapes at night and my Discover Weekly is just... destroyed. It's such a bummer.
Hi Eni, Private Session is not a good option here. If you have little kids, you are lugging them around, rushing to get their music on, they are in my car, out of my car, at work where I also listen, back in my car. Adding another step to go to settings before I play a kids song is unnecessary given the technical sophistication of Spotify. Spotify needs to launch a setting to suppress kids music from recommendations- or have a separate kids recommendation "My Mixes" choice. Lots of people have kids. Exactly zero of those people want blatantly kids music like Baby Shark mixed in with whatever they normally listen to. No one with kids wants to adjust settings multiple times in the day since Spotify is such a big part of our days and drives. This is not a niche problem. Please.. please create a setting that suppresses songs that are clearly kids' songs from recommendations. I love Spotify, but like the original poster, my discovery is now ruined by the music of my one and three year olds. I am now having to move away from Spotify at least for them since its easier to just launch another app for them. Do you really want your paying super users, many or most of whom have or will have little kids, now trying other music apps? This should be a simple setting. Please, please escalate internally.
discover weekly was what made me start paying for spotify, but i don't even recognize it anymore. i usted to look forward to opening it up monday morning but the quality has eroded to the point of disinterest. (13 year subscriber)
the music being recommended now feels like its no longer about trying to show me things similar to my interests, but instead trying to "sell" me on things i have no interest in.
please revert the algorithm. I dont need "Foreplay Music" by **bleep** Beats, and Hands Free Orgasm recommended to me.
Any update here? I played white noise for a few nights and my Discover Weekly has been ruined for months. It was one of the highlights of my week, now it's just a painful reminder of what used to be.
Same problem here. My Child is 3 years old and my Discover Weekly and I didn't have this problem úntil last september. Please fix it!
What they have added since last time that works best for me is the ability to set a playlist to not affect listening taste. That did the trick for me.
Private Session is turned off. I have 5,705 Liked songs. I have over 90 created playlists. I click dislike for every song in my Discover weekly that I don't like. For every playlist that I don't want to impact my taste profile I've chosen to exclude from my taste profile. I just want the algorithm to do what you say it's supposed to do. For many people and for a long time it keeps recommending things that we don't want to hear. I've done everything I'm suppose to do and yet nothing on my discover weekly is anything I want to listen to. Even if I do find a song on it I like I don't want to like the song for fear that it will then bring more music from that genre into my discover weekly list that I don't want to hear. One thing that would help would be to be able to exclude entire genres from your taste profile. Or for each genre choose either you like it, are neutral or dislike it.
Please just get my discover weekly to work.
