Alexa app not connecting to spotify on iphone

My Question or Issue

I downloaded alexa app on my iphone to set up all my echo dots and the Echo dots work fine with Spotify through Alexa. 

However, when im on the iphone and in the alexa app and i ask alexa through the iphone to play spotify, Alexa says spotify is not supported.  

I have tried unlinking and relinking on both the alexa app and also on my spotify account on a PC - same problem.  Have tried resetting wifi etc.  Nothing works.  Any help much appreciated.  Thanks

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstall of the app. Just follow these steps.

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

Restarted device. Unlink and relink spotify to alexa. Still does not work.
Im not talking about the spotify app. I dont have spotify on my phone.

Im talking about linking the alexa app to spotify on my iphone. And then using alexa voice commands to play spotify.
My IOS is 13.3.1
