All songs keep repeating on my apple watch

Solved!

All songs keep repeating on my apple watch

Songs keep repeating on my apple watch even if I have shuffle on or off. I have to manually tap next. I have tried multiple different playlists from my watch during my nightly runs.  These are all offline downloaded playlists. This worked fine for years. I have uninstalled the app from my watch, reinstalled it, deleted the playlists and redownloaded them. Still the same

Me too have the apple watch series 8

Same issue. Started 2 weeks ago. I don’t know how to find the tech details. But given the outrage here and no one from Spotify caring about fixing this thing. You should have enough data to fix it or liaise with Apple to sort it out.

for me: Latest Spotify version from App Store. Latest iOS and Apple Watch Ultra watchOS. Plays one song. Then stops. Regardless if the song is downloaded or not

Restarted watch, deleted and redownloaded app. Nada.

This only occurs when the phone is not in range and playing fully off the watch. So maybe there’s a new security patch Apple made to stop background processes that has also stopped third party media from doing its thing.

Solution has been found. Switch to Apple music

I spoke to someone from Spotify last week and not heard anything back since and still have this issue. I have been with Spotify for nearly 10 years and I’m going to have no choice but to switch to Apple Music if this isn’t resolved soon! I’ve had my Apple Watch SE for 2 years now and this has never been an issue before but now it either repeats the same song or just stops completely after one song. I have tried everything and nothing helps. Also now running with gloves as it’s got colder so literally have to take them off to skip songs which isn’t ideal.

You are right. This issue makes Spotify unusable if you are a runner.

Like you I have now spoken to five different “experts” on their chat plug in but they are not what they claim to be. I am Ben tried this on my wife’s Apple Watch with the same result so it absolutely simply not a user created issue.

This current glitch is something of a joke because no-one at Spotify seems either aware or is willing to contemplate that something could be wrong,

I’m on vacation now, but if it isn’t fixed when I get back, I will switch to Apple Music.

Just a thought

Just a thought, but could Apple themselves have added some complications to “force” people over to Apple Music? Or is that too conspiratorial…?

I have been having similar problems for the past few weeks.

On both an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and an Apple Watch Series 4.
Clearly it is not a device dependent issue so posting details of both devices would not facilitate a solution.

They are both pared with an iPhone 15 pro max wth iOS 18.

The problem is a little variable.

Sometimes it will poceed to the next track without any issues.

Other times it is a lottery.

It will either proceed as usual, repeat the current track, or simply stop playing.

The playlist remains open and the pause button is visible as if it is still playing.

But I need to press "next" in order for it to resume playing.

At first the tracks where it would do this and the action it would take were both fairly  predictable.
However, recently, it has been less so.

This is a first world problem but it does interfere with my walk as I have to keep looking at my watch and switching from the exercise app to the spotify app and back again. I sometimes walk for up to 4 and a half hours (25km) so you can imagine how many times I have to do this and how annoying it is.  It also affects my walk times.

The playlist plays perfectly on any other device.

On the iPhone itself if I take it on my run, or through carplay.

Also on a Windows PC, multiple Alexa devices and Samsung TVs.
So it is clearly not due to any characteristic of the playlist either.

Even without the experience of other users, my own experience narrows it down to a problem with the Apple Watch Spotify app.

I'd be lying if I say I hadn't also noticed how these things align but the reality is that the antitrust issues raised by something like this far outweigh any small gain they might get by nudging users towards apple music.  This isn't the first time I've run into this exact issue over the last few years.  Spotify engineers are just obviously either not capable of or not adequately incentivised to make this integration a priority.  It will be hard switching the entire family over but that is definitely the next play here.

Same issue.  Did all of the basic troubleshooting.   Also getting ready to switch to apple music.  Critical for running

Same for me. Watch ultra 2. Worked fine until about 2 weeks ago

Same issue here! iPhone 15 Plus and Apple Watch Series 9. Spotify Version 8.9.94.418

How about we all go to the App Store and rate the app with just 1 star? And report the problem there too?

Hi Gang - I had an extremely disheartening and lengthy chat with Spotify support about this issue last night. My takeaways:

  1. Support knows nothing about the issue and had never heard about it
  2. No one in support or engineering has even attempted to reproduce the issue
  3. Spotify support is almost useless -- they want to press users to do the work of uninstalling, reinstalling, repairing without actually doing it themselves
  4. They steadfastly refused to answer my questions: 1) Is there a ticket in your support system about this issue, 2) has anyone reproduced it, 3) has the issue reached engineering, 4) is there an ETA
  5. Spotify has a glaring process problem. They don't provide a way for users to report bugs and instead provide these community forums But Spotify doesn't appear to read the community forum pages.

I'm using LinkedIn to reach out to Spotify Product Management, trying to bypass support.

I love the Spotify product, but I would move to Apple Music if my Sonos ecosystem worked better with it. For those of you who don't have ecosystem restrictions, I recommend dumping Spotify if for no other reason than the contempt they're showing paying users.

Same issue here, infuriating

Stops after each track and having to manually skip

iPhone 13 mini

Apple Watch SE - 2nd gen

Spotify version 8.9.94.418

iOS version 18.1.1

Watch version 11.1

Visited an Apple store yesterday (Gothenburg/Sweden), they had not heard of the problem

It’s not an Apple issue that’s why.

It’s Spotify that is not working, specifically the Apple Watch Spotify software.

What I don’t understand is why Spotify hasn’t addressed having a fix at this point. The problem is simple to reproduce: 1. Download a song list to an Apple Watch, 2. Play the song list from the Apple Watch. This fails every time for me regardless of whether I’m working out or not. Seems to me that this would be one of the first use cases tested if there was a new revision of the Apple Watch OS or the Spotify Watch app.

I ran half my run today with Apple phone, Spotify and AirPods. No issues!
Next half of the run  left the phone and used the Apple Watch with AirPods and Spotify downloaded playlist! Had to double click to move to each song! So frustrating and no one will even look at the issue and now well over 3/4 weeks!

If Spotify don’t fix this issue before end of this week I will change to Apple Music.

I've started my Apple Music 3 Months trial. I haven't tested Spotify again since I encounted the issues, been using Apple Music instead. I will eventually test Spotify again but if it isn't fixed I think I'll also move to Apple Music. I'm slowly building up my music library on Apple Music and there song suggestions isn't as bad as it uses to be. I haven't lost hope in Spotify correcting the issue or providing some sort of update on this issue but I can't keep paying for a service that doesn't meet my need.
