Can’t add songs to Liked Songs playlist through my Apple Watch using the smart shuffle

As the title suggests, I've been experiencing an issue with adding new songs through myApple Watch Ultra 1since the watchOS 26 update. The small plus button in the bottom left-hand corner of the Watch face dims out when a song from a Smart Shuffle playlist is playing, and it won't let me interact with it at all. This forces me to use my phone, which is a bit of a nuisance when I'm walking the dog or running. It's much easier to just tap the corner of my watch when I hear a song I like, rather than having to pull my phone out of my pocket. Also, I really miss the old feature that allowed me to 'like' songs directly from the lock screen, instead of having to unlock the phone and open the app.

Thanks!!!

Hey @kiruza696, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

You should be able to download songs to your Apple Watch provided that it meets all of the requirements and followed all of the steps provided on this page. If that doesn’t work, can you try a clean reinstall of the app on the Apple Watch following these steps?

If you’re still having trouble, can you let me know if this happens with specific playlists/tracks or does it happen with any playlist/track you attempt to download.

Let me know how this goes.

Hi Billy-J, thanks for your quick response. I don’t have any issues downloading songs to the watch—that part works fine. The problem occurs when I’m playing my favorite songs using Smart Shuffle mode. When a suggested song comes up, I can’t like it because the like button (the + symbol) is greyed out and unresponsive, as you can see in the screenshot.

Thanks for the screenshot. I’m sorry you’re facing this and I appreciate you sharing your feedback about it. I’ve passed the details and info to the relevant tech teams at Spotify. At the moment, there isn’t an ETA for the fix, however, please make sure that your app is always up to date.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
