CarPlay doesn’t show background picture

I have noticed an issue in the ”Now Playing” view on CarPlay since I updated my devices to iOS 26. 

The issue is that the blurred background picture (artwork cover) doesn’t show up on the screen. It’s just a black background. However the actual artwork cover is showing so I think it just might be a coding issue? I haven’t seen this issue on other music apps. 

The only time the actual background image is visible is on the very first song I listen to when I start my car. I drive a BMW. The background is not showing on the next song… 

Irritating issue because it looks awful with the black blank background.

Can you try these steps and let me know if they help sort it out? If it doesn't help, can you try with a different device with the same OS and see if you can replicate this behavior?

If none of this helps, please share with us your device's make and model, along with the OS and Spotify version you're using.
