Delayed response when first opening IOS app on Iphone 4S

Whenever I first start Spotify the screen will stay frozen for about 30 seconds.  I keep having to touch the screen until it eventually responds.  It will also happen if the screen goes off while playing music.  This just started happening when the new look Spotify was installed on this device.  Any suggustions?

It is worth re-installing the app:

And also rebooting your device by holding the home and lock buttons together until the Apple logo appears on screen to see if that makes any difference?
