Does spotify still stream while online with playlist is marked offline?

i'm wondering if spotify for iOS still streams when a track is marked for offline play.  the reason i ask, is because AT&T told me i went over 3GB last month - i don't care about that, but this was my first indication as i only stream over 3G in my car.  second, is that in places where i know i would drop a call or something, playback gets messed up, so it seems to me that spotify is still streaming even though the tracks are cached locally.  is this true?

so does spotify support not respond the these questions?

To my knowledge it does no longer stream once it's downloaded. Reason for this belief is that despite being without any Internet Connection, it will still play those offline songs. Makes sense, no?

So if it's offline, it's a saved download somewhere.

Have a look at how big the size of your app is, and you'll know how much "offline" music is saved on it.

thats what i would think, but when on 3G i only play playlists marked for offline use.  but when spotify is not in offline mode, a week data usage is 1GB, when i have offline mode turned on in settings, 100MB a week.  also, deadspots where i would drop a call on my way home, playback gets weird, choppy kind of, when in offline mode this isn't an issue.  so even though it's marked for offline, it still seems to me that it is streaming unless i put spotify into offline mode in settings

I have the same problem with my Galaxy SII.

Spotify uses more than 2GB of bandbwith a month and I only listen to offline playlists. I still have the "synchro in 2G/3G" mode off.
