Ipad app with airplay

Ipad app with airplay

Hi all, yesterday I installed the new Spotify app on my Ipad 3. I use spotify app with my airport express, which has an excellent wifi connection according to the airport app on my Ipad. Now Spotify app keeps on stuttering and keeps quitting playing music. I also have Spotable installed and no problems with that app. Anyone? Greets Mathijs

I suspect slow connection on Spotify's server. In Holland where I live more people complaining on slow connections and music stuttering and stop playing...

I'm also having this problem. iPhone app is working great.

I've already send a complaint to Spotify. They gave me some standard issue solutions, like reset your iPad, reinstall app, etc.

Will try tonight if the problems remain.

@ Niels....still getting lots of interruptions...music will stop for nearly 30 seconds and then continue....frustrating!!

I'm experiencing the same problem.... from Holland.

I'm having the same problem. Massively frustrating.

I have the same issue, on my Ipad 2 and on my desktop, it started when I upadted to the Ipad app, really bugging me!

I have the same problem and may have a solution. At least I think I am on the right path to it.

When playback thru Airplay stops, open the Airport Utility and check which access point the iPad is using to connect to your home wi-fi.

I use a TimeCapsule as the central wi-fi device / router and a AirportExpress to stream the music to.

I have found that whenever playback stops from Spotify, my iPad is using the AirportExpress as the wi-fi access point. So basically the music stream is going from my TimeCapsule to the AirportExpress to the iPad and then back to the AirportExpress. Maybe this is too much traffic.

If I force the iPad to use my TimeCapsule as the wi-fi access point, Airplay will work fine again.

I don't know if that is the solution but you may want to give it a try.

I have the same problem in Norway. Perfect wifi/LAN conditions.
I have not debugged extensively, but sometimes it stops every 30 seconds :-S

Same here(Sweden). It used to work excellent but now it's dropping out all the time even though I've made the songs available offline. Both iPhone and iPad apps has this problem. Using airport express as wi-fi router. Tried the built in music player with local mp3s which works fine so Spotify seems to be the issue. Very frustrating. What to do Spotify crew???

Same issue here (The Netherlands). Itunes streams perfecly to my ATV as does music oudside of Spotify on my iPhone and other iOS devices. The issue seems to be with the spotify software or servers.

Spotify, please fix this. It was working just fine until a some time ago.

Now using a Airport Extreme BS and ATV but was using a Sitecom wl-306 before. Same result. Measurments in the house reveal perfect wifi reception and no interference.

Internet connection 50Mbit/ps (measured).

Yep - same here in Australia (with 10bmit internet connection measured & no other clients on home wifi).

Was fine up until last week.

Version 0.5.2.374.g2c5b1077 iPad client.

Went looking for updates in iTunes store - none available.

Sometimes when music stops playing thru AirTunes it won't even play thru iPad when switch back - even for songs downloaded locally. Need to kill app and re-launch in iPad.

Same problem here in Denmark. Get thrown of Spotyfi after app. 15 minutes airplay to ATV (1. gen. Ipad - ATV2)

Having issues with ipad streaming with airplay and airport express too.  (music stops after a few minutes)

Works well from a Macbook with the same airport though so, it must be something in the ipad app.

Does anyone have a solution already?

Thanks,

I'm also getting this, using spotify via airplay it will frequently stop for a few seconds then resume, stutter, etc. This is even for offline (i.e. downloaded) tracks.

Wifi router is the correct one and about 1m away from the ipad. Apple TV is using wired network. Never get this when using other apps via airplay.

I, too, am having terrible problems using the Spotify app on my iPad 2 on a fast network. I have no problems usingmthe app to play over airplay from my iPhone 4. But on the iPad, I am lucky to get 5 mi utes of uninterrupted music. Worse than the occasional dropouts is that it often completely diconnects from AirPlay entirely.

I am considering canceling my subscription.

I also have the same issue. Spotify App keeps disconecting from my Airport Express (configured as WLAN Extender on Airport Extreme) and it requires a lot of patience to get it to reconnect!! I'm prety sure that the problem is with the App as my other Apps (Youtube, TuneIn, LastFM, Concert Vault, Aweditorium, even Soundcloud) all work perfectly.

Same problem in Denmark.. very anoying!!!!!!

I have recently had a dramatic improvement in behavior thanks to some tips I found over in the Apple groups forums. It seems that the iPad is prone to not correctly renewing its ip address lease -- which causes problems with streaming with SOME apps (not all) on some routers. I did several things that were suggested all at once. Since then I haven't had any problems. I don't know if all these steps were required or just one.

1) I set the ipad to not automatically lock the screen after a certain amount of idle time. (Which means that I have to remember to either close the smartcover or put the screen to sleep with the switch on the side when I won't be using it).

2) I shut down the iPad.

3) I powered down my router and DSL modem

4) Powered the the router and modem up and then the iPad

I was surprised. I didn't think that these would be relevant to AirPlay since my iPhone hasn't had any problems, but it seems to have set something right.
