Last song played not remembered

Several versions  ago, the Spotify app stopped remembering the last song played in a playlist that I haven't finished listening to.  The app just returns to the home screen the next time I switch to it.  This happens even when the app is left open.   Is there a setting for fixing this?

I also have this problem. Spotify seems to "forget" which song it was playing. I will pause Spotify, re-open it a few hours later, and Spotify will not remember what I was playing. I have an iPhone X with iOS up to date. The usual troubleshooting steps have done nothing. The strangest part is that on my desktop Spotify, the song that was previously playing shows up (so Spotify is able to remember it on desktop), but it does not on my iPhone (even though my iPhone is what was originally playing it).

This is not only an iPhone issue it is happening on Android as well. Samsung S9

Thank you for your post in this thread. 

We suggest that you perform a clean reinstall of the app to make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

It can also be good if you try with another internet connection to see if the issue persist.

Also - does this occur on one specific device or multiple devices?
