My Question or Issue

Apparently everyone in the world got the lyrics with the update. Expect me. How do I fix this ? Or rather how will YOU fix this ?! Emptied the cache about 25 times and deleted/redownloaded the app and rebooted my phone that many times. Pretty sure the problem here is Spotify. Not even on my PC does your "update" shows up, and yet my roommate has the lyrics feature working just fine. What is this ? Seems like there's always problems with Spotify.

Edit : I meant except me. But also expect me. I'm not happy about this.

When everybody else around me has the feature and they aren't even paying for premium, it really takes a lot away from the experience. Lyrics help in discovering new music.  Being in a "Test Group" for a seemingly infinite amount of time filled with frustration doesn't help with keeping customers hooked to the service. 

And how bad is the idea to create a new account and transfer music manually? That deletes all the followers, listening history, and you're left to retrain the algorithm on your listening habits. And most importantly, I paid for the entire year. I am not getting a refund on that, am I?

I tried clean reinstall and every possible hacks that would let me keep the original account at the end of the process. It looks like the only thing that works is shifting to a new account. 

Please stop providing impractical workarounds without keeping the original account. I keep using Spotify because it helps with discovering new music as I have been using it for a year and it knows me. I , may as well, shift to a different service if I am forced to create a new account anyway. 

Please stop with the "Test Group" replies. Testing shouldn't take a year.

if I’m getting fewer features, why am I charged the same? if you guys at Spotify like to do A/B testing so much, which causes so much confusion, frustration and inconvenience to your user base wo even informing them, how about we just switch over to Apple Music? lyrics feature has been out for MONTHS for most users.  is that the meaningful test result you guys are trying to see?

Yeah, this simply doesn't work for me? The lyrics option just doesn't appear. Do you know if there are any third party apps/plugins I can use?

As someone who used Spotify way back in the beta into the first few years of it's success, it's incredibly disappointing coming back and not finding any basic lyric functionality. Like back then if I recall correctly there were multiple plugins (Musixmatch was one) that worked basically 100% of the time... why is it that like 6-8 years later with the massive success of Spotify and other streaming services that they've not only removed this functionality but totally failed to replace it with an alternative? Like if third party apps could do this in 2011-2013 why can't the massively successful Spotify make it work in 2020? I'm not trying to make you feel bad, I get that resources/priorities are largely out of your control but this is just really disappointing for me and it feels like the barriers to getting this done are entirely artificial because we did this well almost a decade ago.

So for others in this thread looking for desktop lyrics, I just installed the Musixmatch app, linked it to my spotify account, and it appears to work fine for me: https://about.musixmatch.com/apps 

It's not a built-in solution but it works.

It's a shame that people around me without a Premium subscription are able to see the lyrics whereas me with a Premium subscription can't see the lyrics. Who makes these dumb decisions at Spotify?

My lyrics are not working as well.

I use Spotify premium version 8.5.86.739, country: Ireland / Device: Iphone 11 pro and software: 14.2.

I’ve already tried to reinstall it twice and also used the clean installation, but still not working. 😩

Just found that the test account is an account that not use gmail.
Because my account that use an outlook can't show the lyrics and my mom's account with a gmail can do that.
For the record, i have tried to login with my mom's gmail account on my phone and the lyrics was appeared, after that, i login with my outlook account and the lyrics was not showing.
So my conclusion a test account is an account that not use gmail.

Thank you for your replies in this thread.

As mentioned before, at Spotify, we’re often testing and launching improvements and new features.

This means you might see something on the app your friend/family member doesn’t, or you could get a new feature to try out temporarily.

I am facing the same issue on my desktop app ( Microsoft store). songs of which lyrics previously showed don't show lyrics anymore stating they are unavailable or the other quips used. i have tried the clean reinstall, it has not solved the issue

I have tried reinstalling the app twice, performed a clean reinstall, started a new account to see if lyrics would show (they did not), and logged out & in twice. None of these methods worked. I had the lyric feature months ago when I was still using my friend's account, but haven't had it sincs making my own account. I know it works on my phone and in my country, so why is it no longer working?

The Lyrics feature is still being tested, that's why it may be available for some accounts and not for others. At Spotify, we’re often testing and launching improvements and new features. This means you might see something on the app other users don't or vice-versa, or get a new feature to try temporarily.

We'll make sure to pass your feedback on to the right folks. In the meantime, keep Spotify updated to make sure you don't miss a thing.

Following up on this, again...

I posted something related to the topic, as I'm experiencing the same. No lyrics ever since mid 2020 on a Family account, while other user on the same account has had lyrics all along. I tried eeeeeeverything previously recommended and the sad story is that there are still no lyrics for me. Neither on my main account, nor on the new account I created to "work around the problem".

If I'm on a test group, then I please here ask to be removed from it, as I've been stuck in there for too long (more than a year), and I'm being given THE WORST user experience ever. I can't believe it takes more than a year to figure out whether the feature is useful or not. 

Spotify you are absolutely failing on delivering a good experience to me.

I’m having the same problem. The lyrics not working after I update payment for premium, before this my spotify is okay and the lyrics are working. I tried all the suggestion but it’s still not working for me.

The guy on the blog shows how to change country stuff and I was amazed it really works and now I can access lyrics on my desktop, android, ios, and even browser 😂

same thing here i’ve restart my device redos loading it and offload app since i’m on ios my region does support the lyrics thing and everyone seems to have it jsut not me
