Rock Star 24
Rock Star 24

Starting today, Spotify is testing a new version of Your Library in the mobile iOS app with select users. Right now this test is only in the iOS app. Spotify's A/B testing system will be selecting the users that are included in this test. There is currently no way to sign up for this test without being invited, but we thank you for your interest.

This thread is your go-to destination for asking questions, getting help for issues you may have, as well as to share your impressions and feedback on this new version of Your Library. If you post feedback here, please make sure to also use the green feedback button at the bottom right of the new Your Library to provide feedback.

What's new?

  • See your entire collection in one simple list
  • Easy filters to find your favorites, faster
  • More control at your fingertips with a new grid view
  • Unified search allows you to search through your entire collection and see your recent searches
  • Faster settings navigation allows you to tap on your profile picture to get to settings faster

Here is a walkthrough of what's new:

New grid view:

Are you a visual person? You're in control. With the new grid view you can view Your Library with bigger artwork if that's your jam. This is great for when you're on the go or in the car so you can find what you're looking for faster. To switch to the grid view, tap on the squares icon to the right. Tap on it again to go back to list view.

Faster settings navigation and switching back to the classic Your Library:

To compare the new Your Library with the classic Your Library you can switch back and forth between the versions at any time. At the top left next to the "Your Library" title you will see your profile picture. After tapping your profile picture you will see a list and you will be able to go to your profile or change settings. The top setting should be "New Your Library" and you have the option to turn the new Your Library on and off here.

Note: When using the classic Your Library, you will need to go to the first home tab in the navigation bar and then tap on the settings icon at the top right corner to get back to the settings.

FAQ

This post will answer frequently asked questions and will be updated with the latest answers throughout the test.

How do I sort my playlists by custom order?

Right now it is currently not possible to sort your playlists by custom order in the new Your Library. To sort your playlists by custom order you can switch back to the classic Your Library in the settings.

Since I’m not invited to this test and probably won’t be then I’d like to make a suggestion about it here. If you think this is a good suggestion then pass it along.

Since phone screens are getting bigger it would be more convenient not having to reach the top of the screen to do something. So my suggestion would be that instead of having to tap the search button to search your library it would be better if it worked by pulling down to open the search field like in playlists.

I'm one of the test users. The text input field on the feedback popup is not working. Can select satisfaction level, but can't add any written text. Have tried with iphone alone and with bluetooth keyboard, force closing and reopening the app, etc.

Thank you for letting us know! I just tested it out again right now and I'm having the same issue. A recent change might have caused an issue with the feedback box. I will let the team know about this.

In the meantime, you can post a message in this thread with your feedback if you are comfortable doing so.

UX-wise, I appreciate the update as universal search makes a lot of sense. However, in practice it's been buggy and lacking. Search results are not returning playlists or albums that I know contain songs or artists I'm searching for eg I have a song on both a playlist, and the full album (both of which happen to be downloaded as well) - neither comes up in search results for that song; wildcard search doesn't work eg searching for "electro" returns a playlist that has electro as a separate word in the playlist name, but not one that has it joined with another "nuelectro"; filtering by "Downloaded" returns playlist results that may only have a single song downloaded (out of many) - I would expect to find only fully downloaded playlists; filtering is single-select, when I may want to look specifically for downloaded albums, for example; no custom order, which is important for many.

Universal library search is great in theory, but it could also just be part of the main search tab, eg results from your library might be prioritized and denoted when searching for a song/artist/album.

My initial thoughts,

J

Very interesting but I would love when you will remain the podcast tab separated from the music library, maybe give it even a separated tab down between search and library.
