The Spotify app on my watch is no longer connecting to my account nothing plays

Thanks for confirming.
You're not able to listen to Spotify directly on the Apple Watch (like using the Watch's speakers) but it basically serves as a remote for the iPhone.
If you can't control anything on the Spotify app on your watch (press play or go back or skip a song) then I'd recommend reinstalling the Spotify app on your watch. You can do so following these steps.
