Shuffle plays the same songs

Shuffle plays the same songs

I have a 23-hour-long playlist and when on shuffle I hear the exact same songs everytime. Not necessarily in the same order but the same songs. Is this a setting I need to change? Autoplay and automix are off.

Hello @Indecisive_ape,

I am just want to say that If you are experiencing the issue of hearing the same songs repeatedly in your shuffled playlist on Spotify, despite having the autoplay and automix features turned off, there are a few things you can try to address the problem:

  1. Clear Cache: Sometimes, the cache stored on your device can cause issues with the shuffle feature. Try clearing the cache in the Spotify app settings to see if it resolves the problem. You can usually find this option in the app's settings or preferences menu.

  2. Reinstall the App: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Spotify app on your iPhone 11 can sometimes help resolve software-related issues. This process can refresh the app's settings and data, potentially resolving any glitches affecting the shuffle feature.

  3. Disable Crossfade: Check if the crossfade feature is enabled in the Spotify settings. Crossfade allows songs to blend into each other, which may give the impression of hearing the same songs repeatedly. Make sure crossfade is turned off to ensure a true shuffle experience.

  4. Verify Playlist Settings: Ensure that the playlist itself doesn't have any restrictions or settings that could affect the shuffle behavior. Open the playlist on a computer or through the web player and check if there are any restrictions set for the playlist, such as limiting the number of tracks played or specifying a specific order.

  5. Contact Spotify Support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it may be worth reaching out to Spotify's customer support for further assistance. They can investigate the issue specific to your account and provide more tailored guidance to address the problem.

Thank you. I will try that.

My Question or Issue

Smart shuffle and shuffle issues has ruined my experience with Spotify. I didn't use SS at first, but when I tried it, I really enjoyed it until this started happening. It plays the same songs over and over, and I can't disable it. I will turn shuffle completely off, yet it still adds the same songs with the little sparkles saying it is from SS. After that started happening, my shuffle also broke. Instead of shuffling my playlists, no matter what song I click on first or how many times I click off of shuffle and back on, it plays the same sequence. Every day. It is getting very annoying, and I don't know what to do. The app is up to date.

VERY FRUSTRATING~

If your shuffle algorithm is set to play the most played songs then that's possibly the worst algorithm I've seen!

There is a reason we build playlists so that shuffle can play all of them randomly.  There are songs in my playlists I only heard once If I wanted to hear the same songs over and over again, I'd loop the playlist.

The smart shuffle is a mistake - I'm forced to skip 95% of recommendations!  Useless!
