Spotify Premium and 4th generation ipod touch

Hello!

I have an existing Spotify Premium account. I am about to get a 4th generation ipod touch. Will I be able to use my existing spotify premium acount on this device? I read that on a 4th generation, you have to use an older version of spotify, but I don't want to have to buy spotify premium again. If this will work, please explain how. If not, what other device would be more appropriate? Thank you for your help!
