Spotify Settings With Airplay + Airplay Delays

Hey ya'll.

Three things:

1. Spotify on my iPad mini2, using Airplay - when I click 'Settings' two options are greyed out: Social (not important) and Playback. How come Playback is not available? I'd quite like to see that. If I use Spotify Connect then all settings are available.

2. Using Airplay to stream Spotify to my Sony Amp wirelessly from the iPad. The amp is hard wired to my Airport Express which is hard wired to my modem. All good and awesome internet connection... but with Spotify app controls such as pause, play, stop, skip forward/back there is a 3 second delay every time. Volume is instant. This is very annoying. If I use Spotify Connect instead then it's instant. Is this normal? What is causing this? Can I remove the delay somehow?

3. Providing Spotify Connect and Airplay are working as good as possible, does one have a better sound quality?

Im using spotify in my iPhone and same happens with all button. More annoying is the volume that it lags 3 to 4 seconds to go down and up.

I'm using Yamaha amp with wi fi and spotify connect. Thanks.
