My Question or Issue
Hi there, I've been using Spotify since April of 2024 and I haven't had any issues until recently when randomly, the Airplay feature on my iPhone decided to display the tag "Video available" before the artist name, althought it isn't a major problem is really annoying as when using a bluetooth device, such us my car's display, it will show my phone name instead of the author of the song's name. This of course only happens with songs with the new "video" feature, I asume that due to the iPhone's airplay displaying "Video Available" before the artist name, the bluetooth display is unable to read the artist info and just displays the name of my iPhone.
Is not a problem of the car display because when testing with other phones with a different OS from iOS the artist info is displayed correctly.
Is there anyway to prevent the spotify app from showing videos or the "Video Available" tag below songs? Or is there a way so my iPhone doesn't try to read that tag instead of the artist name?
Thank you for your time.
Hey there @Hezucristo,
Thanks for reaching out!
This sounds odd. Would you mind sending over some pictures or a video where we can take a better look at this behavior? This way we can have more context and report it if needed.
If you decide to send a video, you can attach it to your next response or upload it to another platform like YouTube or Google Drive and send a link to it. Make sure to hide any personal or sensitive information, and to give it the relevant permissions if you decide to upload it somewhere else.
Also, let us know the exact Spotify version you're currently running.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Same here. So annoying
Hey @mjaulie,
Thanks for joining the conversation and for sending the picture of how it looks from your end!
Can you confirm if you were able to test with a different OS to see if the info appears correctly, as the OP mentioned? Has this started recently for you too?
Also, make sure to send the make, model, OS version and the Spotify version you're currently running.
Thanks!
Hi and thanks for reaching out!
I’m gonna post some screenshots and photos so you can see how the song info is displayed both in my iPhone and in my car’s display
Here’s with a song that doesn’t have the video available feature
And here’s with a song that does have the video feature
If you need any more info I’ll be happy to reply.
Thanks again!
Thanks for getting back to us with this info, @Hezucristo, it's very helpful!
Make sure to send over the Spotify version currently running on your phone.
We'll be here!
I'm currently using Spotify version 9.0.16, which if I'm not mistaken is the latest version on iOS. I'm also using the latest version of iOS (version 17.3.1)
I am also having the same issue with Spotify version 9.0.16.583. iOS version 18.3 with all songs where ‘video available’ it is displayed before the artist in the ‘now playing’ tab of the iPhone swipe down ‘control centre’.
I have tried to customise the control centre to make the ‘now playing’ tab wider but it still doesn’t show the artist name.
Spotify need to move the artist name before the video available message
or if there was an auto scroll on the video/artist line then this would at least show the artist even if the ‘video available’ message first was annoying
Honestly if I wanted video which I don’t, I would go to YouTube, I hate this trend with social media apps trying to also be their competitors and have everything included in one app, like Instagram reels, please stick to your niche.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for sending us some more details 🙂
We've passed this on to the right team so that they can have a look as well. While we can't give you a specific timeframe, we'll make sure to let you know if we receive any news. In the meantime, we recommend keeping the app and the device's OS up-to-date.
Should you come across this post in the near future and you're experiencing similar issues, feel free to leave your details as well. Current Spotify version & OS version would be great to know.
Cheers!
Hi there! So a few days have passed and the problem is now fixed! At least for me.
I don’t know if it had anything to do with this thread or if it just fixed itself but either way thanks to everyone who responded and especially thanks to the mods for reaching out to help.
I'm gonna choose to believe that it was fixed due to me posting about the problem because it makes for a better story than “it just fixed itself” hahahah.
Hey there @Hezucristo,
Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
We can confirm this was one of the changes we've recently tried. At Spotify, we're always testing new improvements and features to give our users a better experience. So you may see something your friend can't see, or you may have access to a completely new feature for a while.
Your feedback is very important to us, because it helps us make future decisions. We know you want to make the best out of your listening experience.
We'll be here if anything else comes up.
Cheers 😄
Today i noticed that it now says “Video Available” next to the artist name on the iphone lock screen and also in carplay? Is this some kind of new update? If it is I hope it is reconsidered because it looks terrible. Of course I am not looking to switch to video in the car ! Please get rid of it.
Same here. Now display “video available” after the artist name. On carplay or even on lock screen. Its annoing.
Hi there!
While this issue was apparently fixed since I made the post saying that the iPhone lockscreen no longer displays "Video Available" next to the artist name, today it has inexplicably returned, no new updates to spotify nor IOS, in fact, just as the problem appeared again, a message from IOS saying that a new update was available for me to install popped, making me think that updating it would return the song display to normal and that somehow whatever fix they implemented to this had recently become outdated, but no, it still displays "Video available" next to the artist name...
I'm surprised to find out that I'm not the only one who still has this problem, and me reaching out before apparently "helped the spotify team to fix the issue" so I might as well try again.
Thank you for reading.
Hi. Also currently having this issue. On Spotify version 9.0.56.627 on IOS 18.5. Noticed this appear last week, with no success as to turning it off. I have also noticed it appear within the last week and have it appear across other devices such as CarPlay or when connected to alternative devices through Bluetooth.
I have a android but I see lots of people with that problem.
Hello. Please I agree with the others, please get rid of the sign video available in the name of the artist.
iOS 18.5. Spotify version 9.0.58.558.
Started few weeks ago. Very annoying on carplay. Information about availability of videos is really not important for carplay.
