Spotify is BROKEN - Offline playlists are using 3G data

Just hada massive row with my network provider who have. Effectively throttled my 3G connection to nothing because of 'Unacceptable Usuage' . I download my data usuage chart and I have about a hundred entries for 20,800.00kb (20 megs) one for last night at 03:20 in the morning (yes I was asleep) - Ive tracked this usuage down to spotify.

Spotify is streaming my music and not playing from cache (offline synced playlists).

Has anyone from spotify tested the app? it gets worse and worse. The new side bar is rubbish.

Now I'm sure some spotify geek is going to come on here all official and tell me it's not the app that is downloading data.

I have 7 GIGABYTES of proof. So - I'm cancelling my account until it's fixed.

Hi, and welcome to the community!

Have you tried going to settings>Playback then enabling offline mode? This should mean Spotify can't use your 3G. If your quality is set higher on stream is will probably stream instead if Spotify is not in offline mode

What are you doing trying to troll me?

Unless you wrote the app don't insult my intelligence

Really big issue with synced playlists. When on 3G the songs are redownloaded instead of playing local songs.
Result : data download limit reached for my 3G abonnement (1.5Go!!!).
You should really fix this problem.
Only trick found was to put in offline mode, but the app should use local songs instead of redownloading them even when app is in online mode.
Tested with a data network checker. And every time I listen to a song it Downloads a around 4mb :s

I feel your pain mate. I use my phone tethered daily to bypass the network filters at work. not just for personal stuff but for work related stuff that would just take too long to raise a ticket with the IT wasters.

Today my phone was so throttled that I rang and argued with network provider. I even bought a booster because I thought I had made a mistake and used all my data but still I'm over (6.5 gigs over) my allowance hence a trckle of internet.

I got spotify in 2010 on day one and thought it was the business. Now they are rich and global they don't need to try anymore. The development team should be sacked for such shoddy apps and the people on this community board seem to roam around asking you to re install the app and asking if you checked the settings like you are a moron who would never think of doing that. I think they get off on having a little list of the tally of questions they managed to answer by copying and pasting basic drivel.

As you can tell im proper annoyed - moderators and community helpers stay off this thread cos I'm ready for a big slanging match.

Here is a very small section of my data usuage. See if you can spot anything?

Hi this is a general issue. Everybody that I know using spotify on a mobile (iPhone or androdead) keep saying that the app downloads song even if they are synced offline. The app should not stream songs that are synced.

Was this issue ever resolved. I am seeing the same thing. It has so far cost me 50 Euro on roaming charges that I know of. I thought that I was being stupid the first time that it happened, but the second time, I was positive that I was in offline mode. I then stopped using spotify altogether while away, but amazingly it still managed to download/upload data in the background even after I had shut down the application. Beware. I am on android.
