Spotify keeps stopping, rewinding, switching songs, etc

Whenever I try to play a certain album or song, it always stops or rewinds my music at certain points, it's very random at times and I don't know what to do, my headphones do have a cut near the plug, but it isn't very large, so i was wondering if that might be the problem. If anyone could respond back with a helpful answer that would be great, cause i really enjoy spotify and don't want to stop using it cause of this.
