Spotify quits itself on iPhone

Spotify quits itself on iPhone

One my iPhone 7 with software 14.0.1 Spotify will randomly quit itself and my music will stop playing and I’ll have to reopen the app and press play. This is a consistent problem. I can’t fully listen through a song without having to go back on my phone and re open the app and fast forward to where the song left off. Please help.

Hey there @Arw98,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

The first thing you can try is running a clean reinstall of the app as it can be helpful to get rid of cached files that might be causing trouble. You just need to follow the steps you'll find here. This will also ensure that you're running the latest version of the app.

If the issue persists, can you let us know if the same happens when using a different connection, such as another WiFi network or mobile data?

If you're Premium, let us know if the same happens when using the Offline Mode.

We'd also like to know when it started happening and if it was after a specific event, like an OS or app update.

Keep us posted. We'll be on the lookout.

I tried doing the clean reboot of the app you linked and the issue still persists. It occurs whether the app is offline, the phone is connected to wifi or using data. Any other suggestions?

Hey there @Arw98,

Thank you for your reply and confirmation.

As a next step we can recommend that you check the phone's battery settings and make sure that Spotify is set as an exception if you're using the battery optimization option:

  1. Low Power Mode (Settings -> Battery -> Low Power Mode) needs to be off
  2. Background App Refresh (Settings -> General-> Background App Refresh needs to be ON for Spotify

If Background refresh is greyed out in the ON position, go To Settings - > General - > Background App Refresh - > Turn on the option for the system, and then you can turn on / off by app.

Keep us posted. We're always one reply away 🙂

Cheers!
