The "Live events near you" blocks out the song lyrics... how do i fix?

I have seen others have issues where the "about the artist" shows instead of the lyrics as well. I don't have this issue but I cannot find a way to dismiss the "Live event near you" notification and have it show the lyrics for iPhone. I literally have tickets to the show it is talking about... I am aware of the show... I just want the app to go back to having the lyrics at the bottom when playing a song.

Hey there!

Thanks for reaching out 🙂
I tried reproducing this issue on my end but to no avail. Could you send us a screenshot of how your screen looks like when this occurs?
We'd be happy to delve into this a bit further and report it backstage in case it's a bug on our end.

Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout 🙌🏼

I have this problem too. Tried to upload a screen shot but the upload keeps failing.

It was 2 songs by Mother Mother.

Does Spotify just not do lyrics for some songs/bands?

I’m also paying to be a premium user!

Hey there @G_Trees

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community!

Keep in mind that lyrics may not be available on all songs and devices. New lyrics are added every day, so you may find what you're looking for in the future.

However, if you're experiencing the issue OP described, sending us a screenshot of it would come in handy. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert image option in the post editor. Make sure not to send any private info.

Additionally, could you send us the songs' URI which you're experiencing this with? We'll take a closer look.

We'll be on the lookout.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

It’s under literally every artist that’s performing within 2 hours of my city. i get what spotify is trying to do but this should 100% go beneath the lyrics as they are way more relavent than trying to make commission off a live event 2 hours from me

Here you go. I'm going to the concert and want to see lyrics for the songs. But the live event bar overcomes the lyrics. The lyrics option should be available also in the three-dot menu...

Hi there folks,

Thanks for letting us know. We'll happily pass your feedback about the arrangement of the elements onto the appropriate team. Be advised however that we cannot say for certain at the moment when or if this is going to get addressed. If you ever face any issues of lyrics not appearing at all on songs that are supposed to have them, then that could be something worth looking into so don't hesitate to let us know.

Cheers!

I was having this issue, but then found that if I click the left side of the “Live events near XXX” tab on the bottom of my screen it pops up all the special cards including lyrics and about the artist and then you can scroll through them and pick the one you want. It’s rough UX though with iPhone recognizing a few actions at the very bottom of the phone, but once you figure it out it’s easy to activate!

My Question or Issue

If an artist has a live event near me, the tab at the bottom will only open this info and I can't access the lyrics page.

I have this same issue. It’s very annoying as I know the artist is playing; I have tickets, and that’s why I’m trying to get to know them better!

I was having the same maddening issue as many others—Spotify’s “Live Events Near Me” was hijacking the tab where song lyrics and other info used to live. Incredibly annoying, especially since I live spitting distance from SoFi and the Kia Forum.

Anyway, after chatting with customer service, I was offered two options:

1️⃣Create a new account and transfer my entire library, or

2️⃣Change the app’s location settings to fool the tracking feature.

I chose option 2. And it…sort of worked. But I had to use a VPN— so perhaps you could skip to that step and see if it works.

Here’s how I did it:

  • Open the Spotify app and go to the Search tab.
  • Search for “Live Events.”
  • You’ll see your current location listed. Tap it.
  • Change it to some far-off land you’re unlikely to visit anytime soon. I went with Antarctica— seemed peaceful.
  • Use a VPN (like Norton 360) to change to a different region as well

Boom: no concerts = no more Live Events takeover = full access to lyrics and song info restored.

Arguably, at this point it’s probably more convenient to just tab over and view the lyrics elsewhere rather than go through all the hassle. I’m guessing the feature was designed to be convenient, but ironically it’s become a design flaw. Considering alternative streaming services.

Hope this helps someone out there

Hi! Would you mind providing additional information on how to do this step: "Use a VPN (like Norton 360) to change to a different region as well"..  I followed your other steps and copied you and changed my location for live events to Antarctica, but it's still showing live events near my actual location.  I'm not sure how to set up the VPN, so any info you can provide would be extremely appreciated!! I live kind of close to you- I'm in Orange County- so if there's a concert in the OC, LA or San Diego, I can't see the lyrics! Soooo frustrating!!! Not sure if this will even notify you that someone replied to your comment... if anyone sees this and knows how to help, please let me know. Thank you!

Also... Spotify: its ridiculous that you can't (or won't??) fix this issue! I really don't want to go back to Apple music, but if I can't get this fixed, I may have to. 😞

Bad answer. You know you are doing this for money. And yet, you are not paying artists appropriately while we are paying you. Simple solution. Provide the option. Your artists and subscribers made you. Do better.
