Unable to log in to Spotify app on iPhone 5

Description

I am unable to log into the spotify app on the iphone 5. There is no issue with my account or logging in on the web player. I have disconnected all users, completed a clean reinstall of the app but whenever I try to log in the app just hangs and eventualy times out. if I try to log in with facebook the same happens. If I input incorrect information it tells me that my log in credentials are invalid immediately so there is not an issue communicating with the log in server.

A more detailed description, using numbered steps

1. I had to change the payment detail on my Spotify premium

2. I tried to log back in, it failed

3. I cleared my cache / cookies etc

4. I reinstalled the app

5. I tried to log in again, it failed

6. I decided to log a call rather than throw my iphone 5 out of the window

What I expected to happen

To be able to log into the spotify app and receive the service I am paying for

took the iphone outside and threatened to hurt it
