Whats up with the new home screen being random playlist? Its really bad, can I change it back?
Hey there folks,
Thank you for your posts and feedback.
As this thread here has become too general and has grown a bit old, going forward, we'd like to close it off and refer you to post in our new Home Feed Update feedback thread.
Cheers!
Hey Spotify. I hate the new layout. My home page is now just pushing me to a bunch of playlist I don't want to listen to. I don't listen to playlists, I listen to albums, which I usually find inspiration from my Recently Played list, which has now disappeared. The larger cards make me feel like I can't have a general overview of what's going on in my list. Much prefer the desktop layout.
I think the awful changes to the UI are controlled remotely. The recent awful changes to the Home screen went without me even updating the app.
Glad Spotify listened but concerned that what was truly an awful change managed to get through and pushed out the punter.
I'm begging you, please do not implement this home screen UI, I use the current UI so often. It's usable, gives me multiple choices - and I love the "recommended for today". The new home UI is terrible. I will switch if this implementation becomes permanent.
ok now this went back to the hating the UI now
Just here to add my voice to this new atrocious update. This is very bad that I’ve stopped using Spotify. Why do you have to go and make things look like instagram. The old UI was simple and very clean to use. This is just plain garbage. I’m cancelling my subscription I guess I will be going to iTunes now.
Bad news, looks like the UI is official https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/8/23630821/spotify-design-home-music-podcasts-audiobooks-app?fbclid=...
yes thank you I have been trying to tell people about this before i saw your link like i forgot what page number there on 🥹
I’m not 100% sure about this. But I think that article is describing the new version that I have now, not the horrible beta I had for 3 weeks. You only get the stupid ui if you hit one of the filters at the top: music, podcasts etc.
The main Home Screen when it loads is Ok.
if you take a close look at the screenshots in the article you’ll see what I mean.
According to this, the new UI only shows if you click "Music" or "Podcasts". That's fine, the issue was when it replaced the home screen entirely.
The last time i looked today my friend's phone is where you click on the full screen or the song itself the video clip comes up is that what you're saying?
Screenshots above is what I get now. I can live with that. Even their filtered version is not too bad now the cards are smaller and there’s a scrollbar.
wish I could get rid of the Christmas playlist at the top of the Home Screen thought. What’s that all about 🙂 ?
I would be fine with this. I just downloaded to check and I'm still stuck in the (hopefully?) beta **bleep** hole. Their handing of these "feature" releases is idiotic.
This is a screenshot from one of my banking apps. Why can’t they just do something like this:
if spotify implements this, i will cancel my account immediately
I've seen some articles on other sites about this change recently. It appears like it's going to stick around for a while.
Hopefully, we'll get an official update soon.
Ever since the new update hit I've had to use search to find anything. Prior to the update I mostly went through the home screen. Now it seems like some standard social media feed rather than something tailored to me. Spotify should primarily be a music service, not try to replace tiktok.
