Whats up with the new home screen being random playlist? Its really bad, can I change it back?
Hey there folks,
Thank you for your posts and feedback.
As this thread here has become too general and has grown a bit old, going forward, we'd like to close it off and refer you to post in our new Home Feed Update feedback thread.

My Question or Issue
Hi Spotify,
Hope you’re well.
Just a quick note to say that the new scroll-y interface you’re trying out is absolutely terrible, and as someone who likes the concept of Spotify, the app has literally become unusable. I like to see what my options are and I have to scroll so far to see something that isn’t already saved in my likes. What is the point then? I’ve been a user for years and really this is the most bored I’ve been with the app. We, as a society, really don’t need another yet another app to mindlessly scroll on. I promise you it won’t attract the younger generation. Lowering your prices might do that though, just a suggestion.
Please could I get the old layout back? Thank you.
Kind regards,
T
Hey guys, I put through a support request this morning to see if I could be taken off the testing for the reels UI. The reels on the homepage have deeply affected my user experience and ability to discover new music. The support team were not helpful at all in my request to be taken off the testing and used automated replies like they have done so in this forum. Their only solution was to create a new account for me and see if the UI testing will be on the new account, but I didn’t want to risk losing my entire music history even though they said it was transferable. Seemed like a bandaid solution to me.
This is such a horrible “improvement “. It’s so disorganized and difficult to find playlists. It has actually made me question keeping my account.
This version is so awful!!! I absolutely hate it
Horrendous version!
I completely agree, this new home page makes me want to stop using Spotify immediately
It’s horrible! Mine changed a little over a week ago and it’s COMPLETELY unusable now. With the old one, it was easy to find and listen to new music and personally mixed playlists. Now, it’s literally impossible. PLEASE Spotify go back to the old one instead of this hideous dumpster fire.
Another unhappy user here… the new tiktokified vertical scroll home screen nonsense sucks. I don’t mind changes that improve a product, but this update is completely worthless and only serves to disengage me from exploring new music. Well done Spotify.
Sweet jesus this **bleep** UI redesign goes back to last September??? I guess I’m lucky that it only recently changed for me, but god’s hooks this thing is GARBAGE! Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please change it. I feel irritation every time I open the app now. It makes me want to disengage from Spotify. It makes me contemplate canceling my subscription every single time I open the app. Every. Single. Time. Why do you loathe your customers?
That's it. After 12 years, I'm out. Already started a few trials and tested a few music transfer services.
Spotify, you lost a longtime fan and customer
In my opinion, this new home UI is a waste of display real estate, battery, and time. Instead of an overview with multiple streams of information at a glance, the new UI forces users unnecessary additional finger movement scrolling through large canvas, in a very synchronous latency-filled adventure into a endless stream of useless information. It keeps users from actually **listening** to music and causes **frustration** because it's so mentally **irritating**. Spotify is a music streaming service - not a TikTok or YouTube. The canvases were always a waste, since they are nothing more than looping 5-10 second gifs. Ask yourselves - who is going to stare at the canvas for the length of a song? If you're trying to slowly introduce music videos, and are experimenting with UIs, put this new UI on a separate tab. If you're trying to target the Gen-Z crowd, you should make a Gen-Z UI toggle-switch, or allow users to customize their "home" with something like iOS/Android Widgets.
Like the others have already so eloquently and descriptively expressed, the new UI is far from acceptable. Please have a board meeting, roll this hideous UI back, and come up with a better idea to attract new customers.
@AerialServant, @from-the-planet-foo
AerialServant- it's a 5-10 sec clip of the song for you to listen to that you might want to add to your playlist.

1. March 5th 2013 was 9 years, 11 months and 21 days ago, which is 3,645 days. It was on a Tuesday and was in week 10 of 2013(yes i did look this up)
2. why leave the streaming media that you used to like the reason why it is like that is because(I think)it is to give you a short
clip of the song to see if it is your type of music. you can always switch to a computer to not see the 5-10 sec clips.

You can't be serious. That goes against how most people consume music.
I hate this as well. If it’s not reverted in the next while I’m switching to another provider. This has basically upended my typical listening experience.
My Home Screen changed recently and I absolutely hate it. I’m a Canadian iOS user. Very difficult to navigate and find playlists/ podcasts I want to listen to. Hate the auto video plays. Is there an option to change it back?
Seriously how long was spent redesigning the like animation to a plus/check when you could have added a dislike button instead or expanded our algorithmic agency in some other way? With the general amputation of our immediate actual choices from the moment we open the app, our freedom of choice has been greatly reduced. Please stop confining your users to what you think the algorithm should look like and give us more choices instead of less. There are just as many ways to allow for more user freedom on this platform than less, which would continue growing the diversity and quantity of music that is supportable on this application. At the moment it feels like the algorithm is gatekeeping all new music and forcing people to click on the first shiny thing that they see. Irresponsible and anti-democratic.
what's the point of having a dislike button

I already cancelled my Spotify and moved to Apple Music. Good riddance!
for the same reason there's a like(or add to library) button; so that you can control which songs impact your algorithm. adding a song to your library increases the algorithmic weight that it has, making it more likely to play. if that's what it's already doing then why would it prevent you from doing the opposite and devaluing songs within the algorithm? There are a couple songs that I would definitely like to do this with immediately. definitely not a deal breaker for me but if they want to allow user feedback to affect the algorithm then they should allow input both ways.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
